was started in 2008 by Campus House, a church community on Purdue's campus, with the idea to create a welcoming place for the Greater Lafayette community to gather over a cup of coffee. Campus House has been around since the 1960s and cares about engaging and serving the local community. Both Greyhouse and Starry Night Music & Arts Festival were born out of this desire to demonstrate extraordinary
love and hospitality. Greyhouse opened with the specific purpose of being a place where members of our diverse community can come together without the limitations that are often associated with churches. We chose coffee as the avenue of connection because the specialty coffee community values excellence of craft. We think it's important for you to know that no matter the religion you follow or don’t, the name of the political candidate you support, the gender of you or the one you love, the country or county you call home, the hue of your skin, or the stage of life you're in…YOU are welcome here. Our staff is excited to serve you excellent coffee, specifically because you are YOU. While we are affiliated with Campus House, Greyhouse is not a church. Greyhouse is a not-for-profit coffee shop. The money you spend at Greyhouse pays for the product you receive, the staff who prepare it, and our general operating expenses—like rent, utilities, advertising, repairs, and a community budget for supporting charities that work for the betterment of Greater Lafayette. We have no agenda besides serving you great coffee, doughnuts, and crepes with superb service. Greyhouse has no statement of theology, nor do we require our staff to agree on everything. In fact, our individual staff members disagree about many things, but we all agree on this: We care about coffee because we care about you.
