Happy Sunday, Spruce & Rye fam! We’re heading into the last bake of May and pre-orders on the site are officially live for this coming Saturday (5/25). We’ll have breads, buns, cakes, and more!

Pictured here are slices of our Dutch almond cake and Swedish chocolate rye cake. They make perfect companions to a nice cappuccino for your weekend fika.

Our take on a “Direktørsnegl,”, which translates quite literally to “boss snail.” We like that the quirky name adds to the intrigue and decided to put our own twist on it by swapping in Nutella for the standard chocolate filling. Thin, flaky layers of spiraled croissant dough stuffed with nutty, rich Nutella is a dream come to true. Orders are live for this Saturday, folks, don’t miss it!

A Swedish semla bun, at long last. This is a very traditional treat in the Nordics to celebrate the Lenten season. Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, and Finland all have their own take on it with different names, but they all feature a soft cardamom scented bun filled with almond paste and airy cream. We’re so excited that we get to share these this year since our newborn hiatus last year happened right during this time. We’re officially going live with them for this weekend’s bake on Saturday the 17th! As always, get your ore-orders in on the site before we sell out.

Good morning, Spruce & Rye fam! We had a blast opening back up this past weekend. It was so nice to see familiar faces and some new ones too. Pre-orders are live on the site for this Saturday (Feb. 10). We’ll have croissants, cookies, canelés, yuzu tartlets, and more!

Pictured: our beloved “Two Ravens” bread, which features an ever changing mix of dried fruits, seeds, and nuts on the inside. Just like the two birds it’s named after, we scavenge around for whatever looks best. This week we’ll be running our overall favorite combination of dried cherries and pecans.

We’re baaaaaaack! Happy 2024, Spruce & Rye fam! We hope you missed us as much as we missed you. We’ll be back to baking for Saturday, February 3rd. Place your pre-orders on the website and come celebrate our little bakery being voted West Hartford’s best according to magazine!

Pictured here is our fan favorite Icelandic Rye Bread. Best enjoyed with a slab of cold butter sliced like cheese and your favorite cup of coffee.

It’s buns week, fam! We’ll have our signature Swedish cardamom buns, three different kinds of Semlor buns, and Swedish cinnamon buns (pictured). We hope that you’re all gearing up for a mighty fika this weekend. See you on Saturday!

We’re baaaaaaaack! Great news, Spruce & Rye fam, we’re switching back to our usual Saturday pick-ups model now that the farmers markets are over. Pre-orders are live for this Saturday, November 11th. We’ll have breads, buns, pastries, and more! See you soon!
