The Zen Baker FYI

So first off, I’m a hobby baker. It’s been a journey of self-teaching, well, pretty much since I became a Mom nearly 15 years ago. (A little dabbling before then, but it really got serious with kids). I’ve also always been a person that likes to be busy with something. As a favorite OT says, there are those of us that just don’t idle well. It’s a combination of anxiety, Type A, and being a bleeding heart empath that energizes me!

Baking truly is my zen - really nothing about it stresses me out. Ok, may a little bit of stress if I over-commit myself which I’m figuring out too as I go and why I decided to complete this part of my page. As I said above, I’m a hobby baker so I do this for self-fulfillment more so than anything. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy creating happiness for others in the form of baked goods, but I also enjoy my actual ‘real’ job and being a wife and mother. This combination of things lends limited time for any hobby and I’m learning to allocate my time more wisely. I 100% support ‘me’/self-care time, but in order for this to remain part of my self-care routine there are times I need to say no. I want to use this FYI to apologize in advance - know that the empath in me always wants to help make your special occasion extra special with some custom treats, but alas there must be balance in all things. Behind the scenes of The Zen Baker there’s a Behavior Analyst, Wife, Mom (human and furry kind), and Migraine Warrior that still needs to make time for working out, finishing home improvement projects, did I say working out, and getting more tattoos (second form of self-care).

I’ll leave you with a heart-felt thanks for your patronage and visit to my little corner of the web. I am so excited to have the opportunity to be a home-baker thanks to the KY Cottage Laws - remember it’s got to be self-stable for me to sell out of my home. I do enjoy a good challenge and custom request - if I don’t think I can deliver though, I will happily suggest other amazing home-bakers in the area you should reach out to.
