CHEERS TO ONE YEAR! 365 days ago we walked into Kregers Bakery as the new owners. A bakery that has been owned by the same family for nearly 60 years. Kregers bakery is a staple of Wausau and we did not want to see this amazing place go. It was either really brave or really crazy!! We see now that in order to do something incredible, you have to be a bit of both!
This year was full of all-nighters, endless amounts of paint, more coffee than our bodies have ever consumed and jam packed with character development!
Stepping into year two we have learned so much about ourselves and this business. We are dreamers and we plan on doing just that. We have big ideas, and we are so lucky to have people surrounding us, encouraging us, and spurring our dreams on! We love this town and we love this community-thank you for welcoming us with open arms. Look out Wausau-this is just the beginning!

One year ago this picture was taken when we did our first overnight shift at the bakery! We wanted to become familiar with the products so we got to the bakery at midnight and followed Todd Kreger around and watched him work his magic. We often talk about how eye opening that night was. How he doesn’t set a timer even when there are 100 things in the ovens, how he makes tiny adjustments to things just by feeling how humid the air is. Everything he touches is truly a work of art. He’s passionate about baking and he puts his heart and soul into his products. More people need to know about Todd Kreger-the man, the myth, the legend.

Cup&Cake is 18 months old and It feels so good to see our name on a building!!!!

One year ago we got an insane idea to explore buying a 59 yr old bakery.
We have faced so much this since those initial conversations. It’s been filled with laughter and joy, but also A LOT of tears.
People have been encouraging and kind, but we’ve also faced a lot of harsh criticism. Oh, and in our first year inflation rose by 8.1%, which has incorrectly given the impression that we rose prices for more profit rather than the reality that they needed to be adjusted in order to stay in business.

We have put our hearts and souls into keeping this bakery a part of Wausau.
Thanks again for following our journey. We love this community and are so grateful to be apart of it.

We have a lot of new faces so we’d like to reintroduce ourselves! We are Kathleen and Hannah! It’s been 18 months since Cup&Cake launched— 10 months since we took over the kitchens of Kregers Bakery. It’s been a whirlwind of chasing dreams, adjusting the lives of our families, and figuring out how to make this crazy adventure thrive.
We are working hard to keep our initial vision of beautiful cakes that will elevate special times spent with friends and family. And we are figuring out how to honor and improve the bakery. Kregers and Cup and Cake have very different purposes, and we are still working on how to blend it all. Join us, our husbands, 7 children, and the amazing staff we are gathering together to make this a wonderful place. And special thanks to Todd Kreger-master baker-who has stuck with us to bring Kregers into this next season!
