My Wife's Buns is a husband/wife family owned and operated local cottage bakery in Waukegan, IL. We are lifelong Waukegan residents and our bakery is license by the Lake County Health Department. We are a "ma and pa" small business who supports other local and small businesses whenever we can. Our products are as simple as they can be and only as complicated as necessary. I've been cooking and bak
ing my entire life and we both grew up with a large influence from our grandparents, so learning how to do everything yourself was just how it was. After a health scare in 2017, we doubled down on finding a cleaner way to eat and to get away from commercially available food as much as possible, even "organic" food. We started a home garden, which has since evolved into a large vegetable garden, numerous raised beds, a greenhouse, and fruit trees. We use absolutely zero chemicals in the garden and stay as far away as possible from processed foods. The desire to eat cleaner evolved into more than gardening and I found enjoyment in baking things like bread, pies, cookies, and cinnamon rolls. The idea for My Wife's Buns happened after several people tried my homemade sweets. Of those, I was told my cinnamon "buns" were the better than anything else they've tried. The cinnamon rolls quickly became sought after by people we know. If you've had one, they speak for themselves and need no introduction. The pecan rolls became an equal competitor. Bread and other sweets I made followed suit, so we decided to turn it into a business. Our regular white, or wheat, bread is great for sandwiches or toast and does well with soup or pretty much any other entree you would want to have bread with. Other breads (cinnamon, pumpkin, zucchini, banana etc.) are excellent with coffee or to snack on. The sweets also go very well with coffee, desert, or to just flat out binge on. Business things: Everything is freshly made to order. Bake days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please be considerate if you place an order with our request that all orders must be prepaid. We will also not provide a refund once we start on your order. Since everything is made to order, its made for you and only for you. We do not bake in advance or resell any orders you don't pick up: it becomes a total loss and we cannot absorb those costs. However, should a problem arise once you receive your order, just let us know. We will do what we can to make it right. Thank you very much for checking us out. We would love to serve you and look forward to it. Place your orders now.
