Just an update: we have power and will be open as planned for holiday order pick-up on Fri 12-5 & Sat 8-12. Fortunately no product was lost. Our phone lines and internet are still out, so please message us with questions. Please bring cash in case the systems are not restored. There will be some extra goodies for sale, including muffins, scones, cookies, and bars. Hope everyone is keeping safe and warm and we'll see you soon!!

Are you feeling stressed, thinking about holiday baking? Are you panicking, wondering what you're going to bring to the family dinner? Are you in despair, missing the best tourtiere pie and blueberry muffins to be found anywhere?? Engine 5 is taking orders for 9" tourtiere pies, and sweet treats such as muffins, cookies, and bars. Pickup times will be Friday 12/22 12pm-5pm and Saturday 12/23 8am-12pm. Limited quantities will be available, and minimums may apply so please call the bakery @616-3772 and leave a message for Steph. She likes to keep a low profile, but her impact has been widespread. Paula, you are the last woman standing, the ever-present profile in the back kitchen, tirelessly baking and baking and baking. I feel so fortunate to have had this unbelievably dedicated, lady standing on the other side of the kitchen table for most of this journey. I'd like to wish you happy retirement, but we both know that "R" word will never apply to you. Maybe you'll at least sit down for a few extra minutes during your future days. BTW, for those of you anticipating withdrawals from the Anadama bread and quiche, Paula's contact info can be had for a slight fee........Just Kidding, she deserves a comfortable chair and a bottle of wine!

Almost 5 years ago, this young man walked into my bakery as part of a volunteer work experience group, and I knew he was a keeper. Josh, you have proven yourself to be an invaluable asset to this business, as you have gone about the business of keeping us safe, clean, and certified. From daily dishwashing to lawn mowing, mopping floors to shoveling snow, becoming serve-safe manager certified to hauling in the recycling bins, you've confirmed over and over that you were a smart hire! It would be hard to beat your positive and can-do attitude, dedication, and level of maturity. I wish you all the best for your future, and am eternally grateful that you helped me on this journey. BTW, if anyone wants to do dishes in trade for bakery scraps, see Steph ASAP, LOL.

Just an FYI, no tourtiere will be available, and there will be a very limited # of chicken pot pies. Thank you again to all our wonderful customers from the past 5 years!! Hello Everyone,
There's no easy way to say this, so here it is: after much debate and discussion, I have decided to close the retail part of this business as of Saturday, August 19.
The reasons for this are many, and too involved to get into here, but I believe it is the best decision for me personally.
Rather than close the business completely, I have decided to pivot things and pursue some other avenues. These include wholesale production, special events, and bringing back some decorating/baking classes.
I know this change will disappoint many of our loyal customers. It has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, but I am excited for what this next phase will bring.
I am very proud to have achieved my goal of transforming a vacant building into a little neighborhood bakery and making this city just a little bit sweeter.
All of the wonderful people I have met, the relationships I have developed, and the supportive community I have become immersed in, are all side benefits of operating this small business that I did not expect, but am extremely grateful for and humbled by.
I cannot thank all of our customers enough for your support over these past 5 years. It still makes me smile everytime someone walks in the door, closes their eyes, and exclaims how wonderful it smells! And I love the fact that our pies have travelled extensively out of state. All of the memories, stories, children, pets, conversations, gifts, laughs shared - I will cherish them all when I look back on this phase of my life.
So please stop by in the next couple of weeks to grab a sweet and have a chat!
