I started on these little half loaves exactly 24 hours ago. Why? Sourdough by nature is a slow-to-rise, naturally fermented bread. BUT longer fermentation leads to loads of benefits like:
- better depth of flavor
- easier digestion
- better absorbtion of nutrients
- lower gluten profile (it's NOT gluten free but if you're just a little sensitive, sourdough might work for you)
- better blood sugar control

Not a bad trade for a few more hours of my time.

P.S. I wish you had smell-o-vision. The heavenly scent that comes off these loaves after fermentation is everything (less pickle & more nutty sweet).

It has come to my attention that 1) there is already a highly established commercial bakery in our area named Slow Dough Bread Co (why didn't I think to check for similar names with the correct spelling of slow?) & 2) pronouncing Slough as slow cod get a little confusing so we've had a slight name change. Same bread, same idea. Different name.

Orders for pickup this weekend (4/5-4/7) are open! Anyone who orders for pickup this week will go home with a free homemade jam recipe I've been testing this week.

I think many of us who value things that are home/handmade also value doing that work ourselves. The issue is that it is WORK & life doesn't always allow us the time and/or energy we'd like to do it ourselves. My goal is to help you bridge that gap by providing high-quality, homemade, everyday goods that remind you of home. ♥️

A good homemade jam on a fresh piece of homemade toast just screams home to me. To start I'll be offering 3 flavors: 🍓🫐mixed berry, 🥕🍰carrot cake (yes, carrot cake jam!), & 🍋lemon curd. Add the name of the flavor you'd like to sample to the comments in your order & I'll make sure to have one ready for you!
