Why Knot Charters In the bay, we target striped bass, cobia, croaker, spot, flounder and Spanish mackerel. Coastguard required and approved safety equipment.

The Why Knot Charters Regulator 26 is operated by a professional tournament winning full time USCG licensed and insured Captain who specializes in ocean structure bottom fishing for Black Sea Bass, Flounder, Tilefish, Mahi, Triggerfish and more. Whether you are a seasoned angler or beginner interested in fishing, or an individual/small group looking to enjoy a day on the water - possibly exploring a port on the Chesapeake Bay or having lunch at a destination, we have you covered. Longer range trips in coastal and offshore waters focus on some of the same species while fishing wrecks and reefs, and expanding the catch to include tautog, black sea bass, drum, triggerfish and spadefish. There is no cookie cutter trip; We are happy to customize individual or group trips up to 6 passengers based on type of fishing, desired day trip, etc., on board a 2019 Regulator 23 powered by twin digital Yamaha 150’s, which provides our customers with a comfortable dry ride, plenty of onboard storage and seating. This vessel is fully equipped with electronics to include GPS, EPIRB, VHF radio, auto pilot and satellite radio as well as an enclosed head, and all U.S. Rick Vaughan has over 40 years of experience on the water, holds a Captains License issued by the United States Coast Guard, and is fully insured. My goodness look at those Triggers, up to 5 lbs, 28 of them, and 3 more award winning Citations for the crew.
So, the Black Sea Bass bite was hot as well, finishing up with a full boat limit of Jumbo Bass.
Sea conditions were RRRannkk, we muscled the Why Knot Charters Regulator through it patiently, and made it to an often fished and popular wreck and couldn’t get a bait to the bottom. I guess you never know!!
Awesome crew and some good fisherman made our work easy, Kenny and I tried our best to keep up! I have a large number of Triggerfish savvy anglers and chefs, well it’s in and will only get better.

The boys and gal beat up on them today. We had a full boat limit of Jumbo Bass and a dozen Triggerfish and topping it off with 4 Triggers that qualified for a Virginia Trophy fish Citation, way to go Russ and Bill.
It just gets better from this point.
Beautifully executed “beat down” with beautiful weather and sea conditions.

Today’s Super Saver Sea Bass Walk On was a big success, thanks to these anglers who jumped on at the last minute.
We braved some stinky sea conditions offshore to find the short sea bass on fire…..where the h!&@ did the jumbos go?
After bumping around…. wrecks, live bottom, rocks….nope. Well it turned out that we found them eventually and quite a few triggers on ……….., sorry that’s confidential 🤫
Great anglers enduring the tough conditions ……..

Those of you sitting on the fence for tomorrow, here is today’s haul in just a couple hours or less.

Today’s walk on was another easy limit of Black Sea Bass, they are thick and my crew made short work of a nice box full.
Off to the flounder grounds and it was a slower pick, a few lost fish, a few that didn’t come tight, and a few for dinner, little slower than we expected, still a fun day.
Today was a good freezer filler and since it’s goin to blow over the weekend, tomorrow is a good chance to get yours.
Thanks gentlemen we all had a blast and look forward to seeing y’all again.
