Glaze:
2lbs (1 bag) powdered sugar. I don’t sift or measure- just dump a new bag in.
2/3c milk (I use non-fat milk, it’s a better texture than 2%, which surprised me)
1/3c light corn syrup
2tsp almond extract
White food coloring as needed.
Combine all but the food coloring until mixed. Add food color until it looks good and white.
Even if you are going to color the icing, add the white at this step (maybe a bit less if you want red or black). It makes the icing more opaque. Without it, the colors will look… weird.
You can also adjust the amount of powdered sugar or milk you put in if you need to make it stiffer/looser.
This is a runny glaze, and will not hold the shape of flowers or really anything 3d that’s not flat.
Icing bottles are the best, icing bags are awful as it just runs out the tip of them if you put them down.
