We’re excited to share our quail have hatched! Once they start laying, we’ll have fresh quail eggs available at the farmstand! 🪺

Fun facts about Coturnix Quail:

•They go from a freshly hatched chick to a fully mature, egg-laying adult in just 6 to 8 weeks, making them one of the fastest-producing farm animals on earth!

•Their egg incubation period is incredibly short, requiring only 17 to 18 days in an incubator before hatching.

•A single female Coturnix quail can lay up to 300 eggs per year, matching or even exceeding the production rate of many chicken breeds.

•Their eggs contain significantly more Vitamin B12, iron, and riboflavin (Vitamin B2) than standard chicken eggs!

✨Our Employee of the Month is our main man “Trashy”✨

While he’s not an egg layer he plays an important role in protecting the flock, continuing our line of “booted babies”, and keeping peace among the ladies. ✨

He loves:

•bringing blueberries to his favorite gals
•waking up the farm at 4am
•playing the game of ‘who’s louder?’ with his son
•fighting with the infamous squirrels

Trashy came to Cluck & Crumble Farm two years ago with his name after he was born in a pile of trash in someone’s backyard. At his old home, he was a small rooster and was being beaten daily by other larger roosters. We saw him on marketplace with wounds and immediately drove to pick him up.

After some TLC he has grown into a beautiful, sweet and LOUD Roo. We truly love him and look forward to all the babies he’s going to father this year. 🫶

I’m excited to announce we will have TURKEY eggs at the farmstand this Sunday! They are rich and creamy with a larger nutrient-dense profile compared to chicken eggs.

Some facts about Turkey eggs if you didn’t know ✨

• They are 50% larger than chicken eggs —meaning 1-2 are often enough for a meal

• There’s 9-11 grams of protein PER egg — almost double the protein of a large chicken egg!

• The taste is creamier and richer, with a larger yolk to white ratio — which makes them perfect for baking, giving pastries and other baked goods a richer taste 🥐

• The reason they are not widely sold in stores is because they lay significantly less than chickens making them less profitable to the big egg companies.

If you’ve never eaten a Turkey egg, you are missing out & must try them! 🥚

Pre-Orders will be arranged for Porch Pickup every Friday from 8am-6pm, please indicate your desired pick up time within that range in the order notes when placing your order.

** Pre-Order Cut Off is every Wednesday at 9pm **

If you miss the pre-order deadline, the Farmstand is stocked & open every Sunday 8-3pm or until sold out.

I am so sorry to disappoint anyone looking to get baked goods tomorrow but the farmstand will be closed.

We have heavy hearts as we are mourning the death of a family member yesterday. It has been an abrupt, devastating blow to our family and we will be taking time to grieve.

If you would like any baked goods or eggs, I will resume taking pre orders on Monday. Thank you for your understanding and your support during this difficult time. 🫶
