Ever wonder where the cost for a custom cake comes from?
Let's break it down a little bit. What are you paying for when you order a custom cake?
1. Custom cakes are made to order vs. a grocery store cake that is mass produced as well as its decor, frosting ect.
2. Custom cakes can be ordered with your exact flavor, colors, theme, toppers and personalizations. I make the exact shade of pink you are dying to have as your frosting. I will mix and match items from several pictures to create the perfect combination for your event. And my menu has a wide variety of flavors and I can even do things you dont see on my menu. I use premium ingredients and I do not add preservatives to your desserts.
3. Custom cakes can also take hours to create. From the designing, shopping, baking, dishes, decorating, packaging, communication and pick ups or delivery we spend many more hours making your dessert whereas many grocery stores might only spend 20 mins on your order.
4. Home bakeries have plenty of costs before we even get to paying ourselves. Just because your cake costs $100 doesnt mean that goes straight to my pocket. Before I pay myself I pay for ingredients, supplies, utilities, taxes, payment processing fees, insurance and a profit percentage. Plus any of my yearly licensing fees.
