Well I can't believe I'm making this post but I guess I have too.
I have been messaged by an Egg customer, about my lack of eggs lately. The 1st and 2nd messages were fine and I kindly let them know my chickens don't lay well in hot weather and now they are beginning their molt before winter, again this slows down egg production. Alot. The last 3 message from this person have have Insanely Rude and just plain Mean. (This person has been blocked as a result).
No matter how much food and snacks I give them, they're just not going to lay more eggs until they're bodies are ready. They also do not respond to sweet talking. 🤦♀️
I have a family of 5 and they come first. What little eggs I am getting, are feeding my family. This week I have picked 20 eggs. That's less than 2 dozen for an entire week. If they continue to lay slowly even I am going to have to buy store eggs. For real.
Also, even though I have picked 20 whole eggs 8 of them are duck eggs ( they just started laying this week) so that means I only picked 12 chicken eggs. Imagine in I didn't have ducks to make up the slack? Yeesh, I would definitely be at the store
Before Molt I was picking upwards of 2 dozen plus PER DAY. You can see how less than 2 dozen a week is an issue here. Be nice. I DON'T HAVE TO sell eggs. Honestly I'm not even turning a profit on them. They're basically just paying for themselves to be fed and for me to provide them with nesting boxes, a cooler to keep the eggs in, the stand we built, the new coop in their new barn, a brooder, a grow out pen, a new fence, etc etc....in fact if I did the math, I've most DEFINITELY lost money on this whole adventure in poultry! I do it because I like it, and I wanted to be able to provide fresh eggs to the community when possible. Please don't ruin that for me.
❤️❤️To my wonderful patient Egg customers, I apologize that you've had to go elsewhere for eggs the past month. I promise there will be eggs in the stand again in the next month to month and half or so. ❤️❤️
