Hello, friends! This week’s special is a special variant of one of our regular menu items—the Corbin Burger. This gourmet burger is named after someone very dear to us & I’d love to tell you a bit about how it came to be on our menu then & still here all these years later.
Corbin entered our lives over six years ago while working at Vaagen behind our café. He would come in for a burger, sharing stories about his day, his friends, and his family. I grew to care for him deeply; his honesty and gentle nature reminded me of my own sons 💕
At the time, we had a limited menu, and I created a burger special featuring an Angus patty, grilled ham, bacon, pepper jack and cheddar cheese, creamy BBQ sauce, French fried onions, and lettuce. Corbin loved it so much that he ordered it twice in one week, and from then on, we kept the ingredients just for him. We affectionately dubbed it the “Corbin Burger,” or as we like to call it, the “Corby Shmorby.” When we launched our first official menu, it became one of our specialty burgers, alongside my sons' creations: The Eli Luau, The Luke Mushroom Burger, and The Malachi Farmer Pile Up Burger.
Sadly, Corbin passed away in 2023, and we miss him dearly. Every Corbin Burger ordered is a loving reminder of our beloved Corby.
He’s remembered & celebrated by us, and his beautiful family. When I reached out to ask what they thought about this new special for this week, his Mama Cheri, shared one of their favorite photos of him & his trade mark saying: “Git R’ Done Ole’ Son” ❤️
Our special this week is called The Chicken Corbin Bleu 🥰 Our Corbin with a twist!! Hand ground & pressed chicken patty, grilled ham, bacon, creamy bbq sauce, French fried onions, lettuce, Bleu cheese crumbles, on grilled brioche! Our soup is loaded stuffed bell pepper with rice.
