This year I’ve had to be intentional about my orders because costs have skyrocketed. This is one of the orders that excited me - my bride was willing to take chances and I was here for it. We decided to go bold but keep it elegant and sophisticated and this cake hits all the notes even if I say so myself. We drew inspiration from her outfits (can you guess what it was from the cake?) and et voilà! Thank you for choosing BLC, you had options but you chose me and I’m grateful.

Masculine cakes can be challenging, you need to find a balance between beauty and strength and still keep it contemporary. Add that it’s for a well known and beloved pastor who wants to keep his birthday low key but must be celebrated nonetheless and voila! Me thinks we did him justice - what do you all think? How many of you are scared by a black cake? Black is one of my favorite colors to work with, and yes it IS a color lol.

Every now and then you get an order that is personal and you try to capture your client(s) in a way that is true to who they are/represent but make it cake lol. This is cake is one of those. She said you’ve known as a long time - make us a cake you think represents us. (Ermmm yeah, no pressure lol) But it’s true, I’ve known these femmes since I was maybe 12/13 and they’ve been two peas in a pod pretty much from the womb. It’s amazing and such a blessing to have a friendship, sisterhood really, that has lasted 45 years and still counting… They’ve been the yin to their yang, two very different people bound by a deep love and trust in each other. This cake represents that bond. Two sides of the same coin, strong, intelligent, ebullient, a little crazy, loyal to a fault with as different a fashion sense as can be lol - hence an elegant but still over the top cake. (I’ll let you decide which one is which 🤣🤣🤣) Thank you gals for trusting me to deliver. I hope I captured your bond as beautifully as you expected. Here’s to the next 45, your’s is rare and a true gem.

Every now and then you get an order into which you pour your heart and love - this was one. This was personal even though she didn’t know it was coming. When her people reached out to me and offered a design I said nah, trust me to make something that becomes her. I’ve known her since I was a little girl and in my mind I knew where I wanted to go with a cake that celebrated 50 years of her being. I just didn’t know what it would like - and then I saw her shots for her birthday and I knew exactly what to do. This cake is an ode to her - gracious, kind, resilient and beautiful! Auntie Yaa .asmah congratulations on your 50th. You deserve every bit of joy and celebration. Here’s to the next!!!

Nothing like delivering a cake and coming to the realization that you understood the assignment. Sometimes when clients give you free reign it can be unnerving when they see the cake. Will they like your interpretation of their vision? This one right here - it was almost symbiotic. It fit like a glove and I was beyond ecstatic. Happy 60th Ms VA. Vanessa you did a fantastic job.
