To say we’d like to go back and start 2025 all over again in Southern CA is an understatement.
While we are forever grateful to not have been directly in the path of the numerous fires surrounding the LA area, the last 22 days can only be described as a scene from an apocalyptic Hollywood script. I was still glued to social media, following all the devastation and acts of heroism and community in FL and NC, when the fire storm started here. So many lives, homes, businesses and wildlife… just gone.
I don’t think words will ever be able to express our gratitude to the heroic firefighters from across the US and the world, who battled massive fires in areas with up to 100mph wind gusts. Truly fighting fires in a hurricane, but with no rain and 0% humidity.
The fires are now out and the cleanup begins, but so many are still suffering. It was an absolute privilege to work with the people of yesterday, serving the Pasadena/Altadena community that was devastated by the Eaton Fire. These pit masters have been going nonstop for the last 20 days, serving some amazing B.B.Q. and smiles to those who need it most right now. And to hear about all they did in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton and Helene… these gentlemen are angels here on earth.
These are just a few photos of my experience over the last 22 days (which pale in comparison to those directly impacted!!)
I think all southern Californians can agree that we are ready for January 2025 to be over!
