AAR’s 2026 NENC Candidate Forum brought our members together for important conversations about the future of our communities. 🗣️🏡

Creating space for dialogue between realtors and local candidates is one of the ways we stay engaged - from housing and community growth to the issues impacting our industry. These conversations matter because the decisions made today shape the communities we call home tomorrow.

This fall, don't just vote, know who you're voting for. On Tuesday, October 13th at 5pm, we are hosting a free Candidate Forum at Venue601nc in Elizabeth City, bringing together eligible candidates from 10 counties across northeastern North Carolina for one night of direct, in-person conversation.

This isn't a debate or a stump speech. It's a chance to sit down with the people asking for your vote, including candidates for Sheriff, Board of Education, District and Superior Court Judge, and NC House and Senate, and hear their priorities in their own words. Come ready to listen and ask questions!

Whether you're a REALTOR®, a small business owner, or just a neighbor trying to make an informed decision before Election Day, this forum is for you.

The Albemarle Area market told a lot of different stories this August. 📊

Some counties saw homes move in under two weeks. Others sat on the market for months. Sale prices ranged from the low $100s to well over half a million, sometimes just a county apart. If you've felt like no two conversations with clients sound the same lately, the data backs you up.

That's the reality of working this region right now: "the market" isn't one thing. It's a dozen different markets stacked next to each other, each moving at its own pace.

Compared to July, the regional picture shifted too. Average sales price climbed from $278,630 to $307,793, but properties sold dipped from 181 to 143, and homes spent longer on the market on average (55 days vs. 37). Fewer deals closing, but at higher prices, worth keeping in mind as you set expectations with clients this fall.
