Gracious what a busy week leading up to the start of sorghum harvest! We are busy preparing for you and we hope that you will come out to Muddy Pond Sorghum Mill and visit us this Saturday, September 5th and Monday, September 7th. We will also be in operation Thursday, and Saturday next week. After that our days are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday through the end of October.

I will have lots of baked goods there for sale as will other members of my family per our yearly tradition going back to the days that my grandmother was young. This is actually how I got my start baking and decided to expand to baking all year long! 💕

Fried pies continue to be delivered to the Country Porch on Tuesdays and Fridays for now, switching to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday once our schedule levels out with opposite days at the Mill. Embers Grill continues to receive fresh pies Friday mornings.

You can continue to place orders directly through me if you would like fresh bread, pies, stack cake etc in certain quantities. If you've read this far thank you for following along and I look forward to serving up some delicious goodies this fall!

Introducing something new! My husband and I love hot sauce, so I decided to make my own brand using sorghum! The result is not sweet, but it adds depth and flavor and tames the spiciness a little. The vegetables are fermented for maximum flavor, and then I complete the sauce and pasteurize it to make it shelf stable.

I will have this for purchase at Muddy Pond Sorghum Mill this September and October as well as direct from me.

If you have a school, church, or senior citizen group and would like to come tour Muddy Pond Sorghum Mill this fall, it is FREE to do so! Contact me, Michelle to reserve a day and time if you have 10 to 15 people or more. We have school groups of up to 100 come through as well and we love to host groups of all sizes! We would love to have you for a old-fashioned cane pressing demonstration, tour of the sorghum making process, and samples of freshly made syrup. We have homemade baked goods, freshly cooked sorghum, honey, barbecue sauce, jams and jellies, cookbooks, etc.
Your visit would not be complete without a stop at the Muddy Pond Variety Store across the road as well! Finish off your day with lunch at The Country Porch and a coffee for the road home from our newest local business, the Muddy Mug!

Apple Butter is here! I grew the apples without chemicals or pesticides, and AND made the butter! 🙌🍎How much better can it get?! I am not sure what type of apple I have since the tree pre-dates our purchase of the property, but they are lovely and tangy sweet and perfect for this. I add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom, and that's the list!
