I first saw the work of Tito Trelles on ModelMayhem. He had taken a great photo of Brazilian Model Jackie Marie and there was a conspicuous signature “Made in NY, Tito Trelles , Cuban Dreamer” I of course was intrigued. I sent him a message. We met in Union City. We became fast friends. Always meeting for a unas from La Gran Via Bakery where I would tell the girls behind the counter he was my son, and they would laugh at our incessant When Elisaveta Stoilova and I decided to get married it was a low key affair. My brother Will was our witness and Tito took our “Wedding Pictures”. He was a rascal. He was serious about his work. He took the photos at my parents 50th Anniversary. He was family to us. I can’t tell you the countless times we debated over cameras, equipment, other photographers work, models looks 😂. Everyone needs a friend like Tito. While I mourn his passing I am reminded of his for life, photography, Cuba 🇨🇺 and women. Tito loved women. And it shows in the depth and breadth of his work. The nudes, the surrealist photos and his photos of a humble life in Cuba. I will never drink another beer with him. But I will drink to him; plenty and often 😇
