While practicing our speech sounds and playing our favorite game “Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel” our real speech squirrel stopped by. We offered him our acorn game pieces and said hello!

Teaching “ch” today! We called it our spray bottle sound! We needed a rewarding way to support high volumes of repetitions with cueing for decreased lateralization! We sprayed the shaving cream with water and then covered the table in it. So many repetitions, and so much fun!

What 7 years at Communication Station looks like!

7 years ago I had my first day at CSST! It was so exciting and I remember being very nervous. Since then there has been so many fun memories, lots of professional growth, a wedding, birthdays, babies, and role changes. In my 6th year at CSST, I decided I loved it here so much, I’d become the owner and stay forever!

What a lucky 7 years I’ve been blessed with here 💚

The new school year is quickly approaching! To help with the transition from summer to a new school year, here are some tips you can start working on NOW!
We love making “About Me” pages to give to teachers. Parents can make them too!
Try social stories, visual schedules, and countdowns (message us for tips on how to make these!).
For kids who do not understand time yet, provide a general timeline of events for their school day to provide predictability and a sense of control to their day. For example “First centers, then lunch, then specials, and finally pickup!” 🍎

Who needs flash cards when I can serve up a double scoop of fun with sprinkles on top? 🍦
You can see how many speech and language skills we can target with just one activity! The skill is taught, reviewed, and applied all while the child is engaged in a task that is FUNctional.
