I delivered my last wedding order today.

It has been a fun and wild ride, one I am very proud of. I started Ginniebug Creations about 20 years ago making cakes for coworker's birthdays, then their kids birthdays, then my friend's wedding and it just kept going. It's always been a small home based business that I did in addition to working a full time job most times. There were lots of weddings, lots of events and many food truck rallies too. The repeat customers who would order their wedding cakes from me and then come back with baby shower cake requests followed by those special birthdays for their kiddos. I've gotten to know many of my customers like friends and am so honored you've all supported me and my little hobby all these years. The up-all-night baker spent many Thursday and Friday nights in the kitchen until the wee hours of the morning baking thousands of cupcakes in 20 minute intervals while whipping up icing in the old kitchenaid mixer my grams passed down to me. There were a few corporate events that proved I was able to roll with big businesses one of which afforded me a new kitchenaid mixer on tip money alone. I miss the food truck rallies and events that brought family and friends out to support me. A big thank you to my sister who was my biggest cheerleader in the early days. We'd load up her car and set up a booth at any event I could, just to sell some sweets and get my name out there. Then came Ben, my transportation and logistics manager, aka my husband. The very first time he drove for a wedding delivery was under a level two snow emergency. He's always willing to make a run to the grocery when I've run out of an ingredient mid all night marathon, setting up the canopy tents and even holding them down when the weather has other plans. And then there's the awards - people's choice at several Miami Co Food Truck Rallies and even being voted "The best dessert in Dayton" for my Chocolate Stout Bacon Cupcake. You guys made a girl feel good!

All good things come to an end. My life has changed considerably in the last few years. Ben and I bought a home and stay busy with home improvement projects, but more importantly we've become foster parents to two of the sweetest little ladies. My weekends are now spent catching up on homework, laundry, housework and if I'm lucky, a little sleep. I continue to work time in addition and have decided to let the hobby and dream of having my own store front one day, fade. I don't have a single regret though, as I am so in love with this new life and making these girl's smile.

Happy Wedding Cake Day Nichole & Nathan!

They chose a two tier chocolate cake iced in white buttercream, spackle styled, with pink roses for accent. Cupcakes included Mint Chocolate Chip, Elvis Delights, Butterbeer and German Chocolate along with 4 dozen Chocolate Chip Cookies.
