Did you know my signature items have a name or a story behind them?
Larry's Chocolate Chip cookies are named for my brother-in-law; Doris' Snickerdoodles are named after my brother's grandma (and are made with her recipe!); Dean's Peanut Butter cookies are named after Dave's Papaw and Uncle, whose middle names were Dean.
The bakery itself is named after my grandma, but no one ever called her Brenda Lou. She was just Bren, Mom, Grandma, or Memaw.
I want to introduce a cookie I made in August that will be on the menu in both sugar and sugarless versions: Emerson's First In, Last Out cookie.
As a nod to the firefighters in my family, my great-grandpa Emerson and my mom, this cookie brings the (sweet) heat. If you stopped by any of my booths in August, you might have seen it on the table as the Cayenne Chocolate Chip. I'm happy to share that starting in January, you can get this cookie at every market, or you can order it through my website or on Market Wagon in both versions.
If you've ever tried Mexican Hot Chocolate, you already know what flavor you're in for with Emerson's. You've got a chocolate chip base, notes of cinnamon and nutmeg, and then the heat from the cayenne. But it's not an overwhelming heat; it's just going to have a tiny bite, nothing extreme.
