The Rye Berry is now officially closed. Thank you so much to the Hamilton community and beyond. The outpouring of love and support these last few weeks surprised us. We really didn’t know how important the bakery was to so many people until the past week or so. We received so many beautiful letters, gifts, and words of support; it was incredible. Thank you for supporting our small family operation and understanding the extreme hard work and love the whole staff put into producing the high quality breads, food, drinks and welcoming community space we so greatly wanted to provide. Oftentimes in the haze of the daily grind, it is easy to lose sight of how important the simple moments in a café can be for a community. The past couple weeks really put that importance and appreciation back into focus for us and we cannot thank you enough.

Good morning dear friends,
Over the last 4 years we have made some of the best friends we could have imagined while serving the town of Hamilton. We (Krista and Patrick) moved here to be closer to family though neither of us are originally from the area. We came upon Hamilton while driving through one day and thought the village could be a wonderful place to make artisan bread. We were constantly adjusting while figuring out how to own a business as a couple and balance it with family issues, staffing, and of course producing high quality food. Unfortunately, the pressures of the industry on our family, particularly our inability to staff the kitchen to consistently produce the highest quality we expect, has left us at an impasse. We have decided to close The Rye Berry at the end of February. Many of our customers are the light of our daily lives and we will miss you all more than words can say; we appreciate the love and support you have shown us so much. We have also seen much of the opposite and having a small business in a pandemic, more than anything, has been the largest lesson in human psychology! With all that said, we ask you not to worry, as the space will be in the BEST hands it possibly could be. We are ecstatic it will be taken over by some very dear friends of ours who are absolute stars and we know will do the greatest possible job that can be done!!! 🤩✨We love you all very much and wish you the best as we continue with our family’s journey on to new adventures.

We are looking for a full-time cook with a passion for learning and preparing high quality dishes in a fast-paced culinary environment with focus on farm-to-table philosophy. We are a small, high energy, close-knit team and are looking for someone to add to our kitchen that is as passionate about food as we are and plans to work here for the long term. Hours are approximately 6:30am-2:30pm. Duties will include prepping meals by weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, cooking meals, checking ingredients for freshness, and arranging and garnishing the dishes.You will also be in charge of ensuring that the kitchen and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained and ensuring food safety standards are rigorously upheld. You should have good working knowledge of hot and cold food preparation, sanitation standards, health codes, and the ability to use slicers, mixers, grinders, food processors, etc. Prior experience cooking breakfast and lunch dishes or culinary education is preferred. You must be able to stand/walk for 8-hour shifts and lift at least 50 pounds. Se habla español.

The Rye Berry is an artisanal family bakery with a full restaurant menu and made-from-scratch dishes using locally sourced ingredients as much as possible. We specialize in naturally fermented breads, high-quality coffee, and make breakfast and lunch by hand with high quality ingredients. We believe the best memories are formed around delicious, nourishing food, and we are dedicated to creating a community environment, where people from all walks of life can come in and create experiences. We want everyone who comes into The Rye Berry to leave happy, with a full belly, and feel like they are part of our family.

We are looking for a high-energy cook with a passion for preparing made-from-scratch dishes in a fast-paced culinary environment. Our ideal candidate not only has the technical skills to produce meals that knock it out of the park, but can also operate with a variety of local meats and produce to showcase our high-quality breads. Hi dear friends! Lately we’ve needed to “get real” and closely examine what we can sustain with chronic lack of staff in this area. We are going to operate only as a traditional bakery and sell what we’ve baked that morning from Thu-Sun. Unfortunately we are not sure when we can bring back the kitchen menu, but this gives us more space for creativity in baking! Apologies to the many customers we know love our breakfast and lunch menu, but we just have to do best we can with what we have. Thank you so much for always supporting us and REAL bread! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

About Us

We are a family and veteran owned artisan bakery and café serving breakfast and lunch, sourdough breads, croissants, specialty house-made yogurt, a wide variety of organic loose-leaf teas, coffee, and espresso brewed by hand. 100% of the dishes on our menu are made-from-scratch using local ingredients as much as possible and all of our sandwiches are made with our own bread. Our breads and pastries are made from organic flour largely from New York and Vermont and hand shaped and baked in our kitchen every morning. Our sourdough bread is made using traditional methods and a naturally leavened fermentation process which takes about 24 hours. We only use free-range eggs, local dairy, and real local maple syrup in our breakfast items. Please call us at least 24 hours in advance with specialty bread orders or catering.
