A Day of Remembrance

Today we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the foundation of the freedoms we hold dear, and their legacy lives on in each of us.

This day is more than a long weekend it’s a moment to reflect, to give thanks, and to never forget the cost of our liberty.

We honor the fallen. We stand with their families. And we carry their memory forward with gratitude and respect.

A little restock run for the Tomball Community Fridge today ❤️

I dropped off several loaves of fresh-made sourdough bread and snickerdoodle cookies as well as several packs of lunch meat, cheese, apples.

The beautiful thing about the community fridge is that anyone can help! Whether it’s fresh produce, pantry staples, homemade baked goods, bottled water, or hygiene items, every donation matters. Small acts of kindness add up in a big way.

It gets used a lot and needs to be restocked often, so if you’ve been looking for a simple way to give back locally, this is such a wonderful place to start. 💛

It is located in the alley behind Re:Bar Cafe & Juicestillery and you can drop off donations at anytime!

It’s National Sourdough Bread Day… which in this kitchen basically means it’s Wednesday. 😄

Around here we celebrate the only way we know how… by feeding the starter, flouring the counter, and pretending we’re not already thinking about the next loaf.

Seriously though—thank you to all of my amazing customers and students who have supported Laurel Bakes, taken classes, ordered for your family, and embraced the slightly wild world of sourdough.

Today feels like the perfect excuse to slice into a fresh loaf, slather it with butter, and appreciate the magic of flour, water, salt, and time.

If your starter is bubbling today, I hope your loaf has the perfect rise and the most satisfying crunch.

And if you’re still sourdough-curious… there’s always room for one more at my next class. 😉
