Every Monday or Tuesday I bake 100 cookies for our Stephens County High School football team. Today it rolled right on into Tuesday because I’m still in this kitchen working on them. 😂

And y’all already know, if they ask me to do cookies, they’re coming out of my kitchen. I ain’t showing up with store bought cookies. I’m gonna make them.

I just ate one warm out of the oven and I’m telling y’all, this may be the best batch I’ve ever made. 🍪

I used my new mixer for this huge batch today too, and y’all, it is a game changer.

Since I’m already making such a huge batch, I am baking extras for the farm stand.

Also coming out today is fresh sourdough bread. I’ve got artisan sourdough and I’ve got HOT jalapeño cheddar sourdough. And when I say hot, I mean HOT. 🌶️😂 If you don’t like much heat, you might want to skip this batch. I’ve got one whole loaf and several half loaves.

I’ll be collecting eggs soon, and banana bread is coming behind all of that. I’m getting things down to the stand as I finish them and hoping to have most everything stocked around 6 this evening.

The bread is already ready, though, so if you stop by before I get it down there and you’re looking for a loaf, just press the ring camera and I’ll get it for you.

And one more thing. One of my sweet neighbors saw that I was running a little short on eggs while I wait on more of my pullets to really get going, and she reached out and offered some of hers.

So now you may see a little mixture in the egg cooler. My eggs, Dad’s eggs, and eggs from right up the road. You may notice different cartons or packaging, but don’t worry. I checked them out, y’all. They’re good. And y’all know me better than that by now. We are not putting store bought eggs down there and calling them farm eggs. 😂

She also brought down fresh Clemson Spineless okra. I first heard about that okra from Jeremiah Farmer because I had watched him growing it and talking about it online. So when she told me she had some, I knew exactly what she was talking about.

It is fresh picked, bagged up, and brought right down the road to the farm stand all for y’all!

This is the kind of stuff I love about this little stand. People right here growing things, sharing what they have, and everybody getting to enjoy it.

Y’all come get it. ❤️

Cold Mtn Farm is restocked and ready for y’all!

I’ve was up extra late last night in the kitchen getting a few things ready, and here’s what you can find today:

• Sourdough banana bread loaves
• Banana bread slices
• Golden Farmhouse Cookies 🤎 brown butter sourdough cookies with caramel and salted pretzels
• The Homestead Cookies 😇 brown butter sourdough cookies loaded with toasted pecans, caramel, butterscotch, and chocolate chips
• And something new today… Pumpkin Sourdough Streusel Muffins with a buttery pecan streusel and pumpkin-spice buttercream in the center. These turned out so good and definitely feel like fall. 🍂

I also have sourdough working and getting ready for tomorrow.

Eggs are still a little limited right now. We’re usually gathering around two dozen a day, and Dad brings eggs when he has extras too. The good news is we’ve added about 80 pullets, and some of those girls are just now starting to lay, so hopefully before too long we’ll be able to keep up much better. If you’re looking for eggs, just send me a message and I’ll let you know what I have available.

I hope y’all are having a fabulous Thursday! Thank you so much for continuing to support our little stand. And as always, if there’s something special you’d like to see me make, let me know. ❤️

Some of the messages y’all have sent lately about the things from the stand have really meant a lot to me. Y’all are so sweet, and hearing that you enjoyed something I made is just the best kind of encouragement. ❤️

I’m back in the kitchen this evening baking and getting a few things ready for the rest of the week. I’m also working on a couple new treats that I’m excited for y’all to try.

I’ll let y’all know as soon as everything is ready and down at the stand. Stay tuned, friends. ❤️

Y’all, today definitely did not go according to plan. 😂 I had every intention of having cinnamon rolls down at the stand by lunchtime, but my KitchenAid mixer had a different plan in mind.

These cinnamon rolls take a little time because I don’t rush them. I mixed the dough last night and let it cold ferment overnight, which gives it time to develop more flavor and helps make the rolls soft, fluffy, and gooey the way they’re supposed to be. Then they get rolled out, filled, cut, and have to sit and rise until they’re nice and fluffy before they ever make it into the oven.

Last night, while I was mixing all that dough, my little KitchenAid was definitely letting me know it had had enough. 😂 I was trying to make double batches because these cinnamon rolls go so fast, and I ended up having to stop, divide the dough in half, and finish it in smaller batches.

That got me thinking last night that if I’m going to keep making this many at a time, I’ve got to get a bigger commercial mixer. So I started looking, found one, and went and picked that thing up today! 🙌 I am SO excited because it is going to completely change what I’m able to do in this kitchen.

I’ve been back home for a while now and everything is moving along. Cookies are baking, Rice Krispie treats are being prepped, and the cinnamon rolls are rolled, cut, and rising. As soon as they’re nice and fluffy, they’ll go into the oven for about 30 minutes. Then I’ll get them glazed, packaged, and down to the stand.

I’m shooting for no later than 8:00 tonight. As soon as they’re finished and I’m headed down there, I’ll put out another message so y’all know they’re on the way.

And if you’re already settled in for the night, they’ll still be there waiting on you in the morning. Remember, the stand is self serve and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you can stop by whenever it works for you. And if you happen to get a late night cinnamon roll craving, you know where to find them. 😂🤎

I also just want to say thank you to all of you who continue to support our little honor system stand. It means a lot to be able to put things out there and trust that people will do the right thing. Of course, every now and then things don’t add up perfectly, but overwhelmingly, y’all are wonderful. I’m thankful we’re able to have something like this in our community, and I’m thankful for every one of you who stops by, supports it, and helps make it possible.

Now, back to these cinnamon rolls. Fingers crossed they decide to hurry up and get fluffy. 😂

Friday morning farm stand update 🤍

If you’ve stopped by this morning and found the stand empty, I am so sorry! I’ve already seen a few people come by, and I hate the thought of anyone making a special trip and being disappointed.

I’m working hard and steady this morning getting everything going. Cinnamon rolls are being prepped now and should be baking very soon, and I’ll post again as soon as they hit the coolers along with whatever else I’m able to get made today.

There will not be sourdough bread out today, but bread is being prepped today and will be available tomorrow.

Please feel free to message me before making a special trip out, and I’ll do my best to let you know what’s available. Y’all have been buying things almost as quickly as I can get them into the coolers lately, and I’m so thankful for that.

This little stand is still very much something I do because I enjoy it. Between hospice nursing, working on my DNP, family, the farm, working to restore this sweet old farmhouse, and everything else, I definitely have a lot of irons in the fire 🔥but baking is something I really enjoy doing for my family and for all of you.

And speaking of the farm, we have added quite a few more girls around here! Our light and buff Brahmas, Vorwerks, Black Marans, and Buff Orpingtons are getting to that exciting age where some are beginning to lay and others should be starting very soon, so you’ll probably start seeing even more colors mixed into the egg cartons.

And y’all… the Polish chickens have completely stolen my heart. We have Golden Laced Polish and White-Crested Black Polish, and I had no idea how sweet and sociable they could be. They are the cutest little things with those crazy fluffy crests on their heads, and some of ours will come right up to you like they just want to see what you’re doing. I absolutely love them. 😂🐓

We have even more babies growing out for next year, so hopefully all of these additions mean a much better egg supply as they mature.

And good news for this weekend!! Dad is bringing all of his eggs up tomorrow, so by late morning the egg cooler should be stocked back up really well. 🥚

Thank y’all again for being patient with me while I work to keep everything filled. I truly appreciate every single person who stops by and supports our little farm stand. 🤍
