Erie Street Cookies Following family traditions Now, I carry on the baking in the family, as a Cottage Baker.

Some of my cookies are based on recipes from my mother, who baked many dozens of cookies at each holiday when we lived on Erie Street in Spring Valley. She was well known for her frosted cut-out cookies, and after her passing, my father took over the baking and continued her traditions.

Yes! Come see me at the newly opened, very popular, Eclectic Blend Coffee House, on October 16th during Witches Night Out in Princeton! They're located at 527 S. Main St., right next to the Eclectic Joy shop, both worthy of the stop!

Why turn on the oven to bake when it's THIS HOT outside? Did you know you can make some simple no-bake cookies? Here's a quick recipe from the BAKERMAMA and you can get the kids involved too!

No-Bake Monster Cookie Balls - Yield 20

2 and 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
1 cup creamy or crunchy peanut butter
1/2 cup honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
1/2 cup mini M&M candies

In a large bowl, stir together the oats, peanut butter, honey and vanilla until well combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips and M&M candies.

Roll dough into 2-tablespoon sized smooth balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or enjoy right away.
Once the balls have set, transfer them to an air-tight container and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Who thinks these would even last two weeks with the kids eating them? Enjoy!

How about some blueberry scones! They are not too difficult to make and with fresh blueberries available now (I pick mine locally), scones are a great way to use them or many other fruits.

There are many easy recipes out there to try, but the site I find most reliable is Sally's Baking Addiction. She's a real pro and her recipes are tested many times to be sure they're great for anyone to try.
