Jacob Hardacre House and Garden

Jacob Hardacre House and Garden This site, on the northwest edge of Tipton, IA, is the historic home of Jacob Hardacre, who built the house for his bride, Lucinda Moffitt, between 1882-1885.

In 2009 the first Hardacre Community Garden was planted in the lawn in front of the house.

My buddy Steven Licht who volunteers at Tipton's Oasis Coffee Shop a couple of times a week. These t-shirts, either short or long sleeved, are available for sale. Both area really comfortable! Don't forget to stop in for a warm drink on one of these getting colder late fall days!

Steven Licht of Lowden is one of the many volunteers who help out each week at Tipton's Oasis Coffee Shop. Steven's holding one of the long sleeved Oasis t-shirts that are available for sale--really comfortable! Short sleeve t-shirts are available, too. As the temperatures begin to drop, the Oasis is a great spot where you can come in out of the cold and enjoy a warm beverage or, if you like, there are a wide variety of cold drinks available, too.

If you've been by the Hardacre Garden this summer, you'll have seen our new sign. Slightly different name, but the same intent.

04/10/2010

The shed will be used by the Tipton/North Cedar FFA chapters that will have a goat project in the east field this summer. The students will also be volunteering in the garden. If you know others who might be interested in the Hardace Community Garden, tell them about this site and suggest they become fans. All we grow is donated to those who need it, other than what we sell to support the costs of the garden.

Wal-Mart employees will also, soon, be volunteering at the garden and we won't say no to anyone who wants to volunteer. We're also going to have new garden space on the east side of the shed in the east field and behind some of evergreens to the north. Finally, a red shed, donated by Dean Eilers, will soon be moved to the south of the east storage building.
