Meta has made their stance loud and clear. Side with Trump, end fact checking or truth telling, gut your own business while ensuring yourself and the top execs get bigger checks and more money after you fired the people who needed the money you decided was better in your own pockets instead of the pockets of the average worker who supports their family.
A few weeks ago I noticed an uptick in political posts on my business and personal pages. That is why I started posting political stuff as well, to combat the fake things that I kept seeing show up in my feed. Or the anger, or the harassment. Or the all-out lies, and the hatred. I told my husband it seemed like they were purposely trying to flood us with Fox viewers and Trump supporters to shut us down and shut us up. My business page got flooded with Trump supporters screaming to boycott my business. There were several of them in a matter of 2 to 3 days. If these were my followers, they would have known that my business was already closed and there was nothing to boycott.At the end of last year. The egg prices started to rise, but then Trump started screaming tariffs and I knew what I had to do. I knew my business could not survive. The price increases that we're about to occur so I shut it down. I obviously did have other reasons to shut down my business such as giving my family the attention and time that they needed of course. But when I did shut my business down I was having to charge over $200 for birthday cakes while I myself was making less than $5 to make those birthday cakes happen. my business was no longer viable with the increases of costs that we're about to occur. If I were to try to bake again today, my cakes would have to be over $300 for a simple birthday cake with a little bit of detail. And I would still only make $5 an hour if I did that.
Metta is part of the problem, I deleted my Instagram, My Messenger and my Facebook. 2 days ago. This morning I woke up and Facebook had reinstalled itself on my phone. That's the only reason why I'm on it now. I will once again delete this app and it better not show up automatically installed in my phone again. Why did it push itself to my phone after I deleted it??? I don't feel comfortable with that. I don't feel comfortable that all of our big tech CEOs were standing behind the man that is now trying to starve his own country and steal from his own people. I don't trust the fact that Zuckerberg did the exact same thing that Elon did to our entire country. Which was fire people who need a jobs and pocket the money for themselves. That is exactly what is happening with our entire government right now.
The fact that they put quotations around error tells you it wasn't. It was planned. They tried to flood us out and silence us with Fox viewers and Trump supporters. They pushed them into our fields of view to try to engage and sew more distrusting each other. I'm not playing their game anymore.
I am happy that my voice got to a few during these last 2 weeks or so, I am sorry that my voice will now be silenced because I can no longer trust our social media apps. It is not lost on me that every single person that owns our social media apps and our communications we're standing behind Trump that day. They got to stand in the spots that usually elected officials and cabinet members would sit in. That told us right there who was really going to run our government. Who is really going to be running the show. And they are, to me it almost seems like they're trying to make us look away, to get off of these apps just like we did with Twitter. Because Twitter became so right-wing leaning and all about Trump that it turned people away. I feel like that's what they're trying to do here too. Or at least they did until people got mad and now they said whoopsie. We'll fix that. Not buying it.
Thank you to anyone who supported my business throughout the years. I am so sorry that I had to close but I hope you do understand why. It was not easy to give up my dream to these people, so many other small businesses have had to shudder since Trump became president or even when he was confirmed to be president. 90% of my bakery friends have had to shut down. I don't have any bakeries to recommend to clients who try to call me today because nobody can afford to bake anymore. I also don't want my followers to have to also be harassed by the Fox viewers and Trump supporters that they push into my page.
It is a sad time to know that hatred is trying to push out love. It is sad that these Trump supporters came to a small business to scream. Boycott boycott boycott, that is someone's livelihood. But they've already made it apparent that They don't care about people's livelihoods. They only care about themselves. They showed their true colors when this all happened remember that. Remember anyone who said something hateful towards you, or refused to listen to you, or tried to silence you.
I have also noticed, that MSNBC made the move to remove all of the black faces from their programs so we will no longer see black faces on our screens or hear black voices sharing their sides of the story. It is disgusting that this is how those chose to go. I noticed that several media sources such as CNN and ABC and NPR, are now starting to show the same things that Fox News shows. There was an article I saw that said musk bought out these companies for 44 billion. We don't know about this. It wasn't news to us because they now hold the government, they are the ones that hold all of the information, we don't find out about things until after they happen now. Like his second rocket launch the other night at 10:00 at night when everyone was sleeping. There was no mention of it prior to the launch, however, the next day there was news articles about it that stated they were published a week or two ago. That night before the launch I looked for this information and could not find it anywhere and magically the next day it was there. Same thing with the gun law that him and Pam Bondi just did, if you look it up online it says it was 3 years ago. Trump wasn't in office 3 years ago and Pam bondy wasn't sitting in the oval office with him signing papers 3 years ago. Almost like they were trying to make it seem like this had already happened before, and it wasn't something that was currently happening now. Like they were trying to trick someone or something....
It is not lost in me that I am letting them silence me by leaving Facebook. However, I don't trust this app. I don't want it on my phone. I don't want it on my computer.
I would say that I hope to be on here again someday, however, to me at this point, Facebook, Instagram and anything meta including our VR headset are all trash now. I will never trust them again.
