I'm Jody, and I took up baking during Quarantine to stay sane while home alone! I taught myself how to bake and decorate custom cakes in order to make them for children in shelters and foster care through Bake A Wish Austin. After testing some on family and friends, they encouraged me to sell them to the public and Sugar Fairy Baking Co. Two years later, I have a full-time job and baking has becom

e a hobby again, so I take very limited orders when I can fit them in. I never finished a website so please follow me here or on Instagram to keep up with ordering info, flash sales or holiday goodies. Email requests with the date (most important), number of servings needed, flavor, and theme to [email protected] and text me at 512.426.0088 if I do not reply within 24 hours. (Work gets busy sometimes!)

I primarily make 6" cakes (that are 6-7" tall) and 8" classic and party cakes, but also do some tiered cakes as well. I can do fondant but prefer to work with Swiss meringue buttercream frosting as it's silky smooth and less sweet than traditional American buttercream. I can provide quotes and ideas for a classic or custom cake for your special occasion!

Sometimes things don’t go as planned. I had a rush order for a birthday cake with a Western theme, so I ordered a kit from Amazon to decorate it with since I already was working on an order at the same time. Unfortunately, the weather threw a wrench into my plans, and I found myself at 10 PM on Friday night with no decorations for a cake due on Saturday morning.

My son Jordan ran to the grocery store for some rice crispy bars while I dug out some Western cookie cutters and fondant, and we began making our own decorations. Several hours later, we had done what we could with the short amount of time.

Luckily, my client appreciated it even more being all handmade. Thanks to my son for his help!

It’s interesting making custom cakes because I rarely get to make the same cake twice. This is the first rock wall climbing cake for me.

I found a picture of the birthday boy and created an image of him climbing a rock wall and used a miracle transfer sheet to put that image onto white chocolate. The hand and foot holds are made out of fondant. And the boulder on top of the cake is the piece I sliced off made into a bit of a cake pop covered in fondant and frosting.
