This week at HBG are…. Banana cream pie thumbprints! 🍌🍌 Available Friday and Saturday 😊
Appropriate for the theme of this week “the sh*t is bananas!” 🙈
Tornadoes today, a long and eye - opening county board meeting last night. What fun, new activity will be unlocked tomorrow? 😂
I can’t help but feel very frustrated and slightly offended at some repeated themes I witnessed at the county board meeting. I felt as though some board members were treating their constituents as THE OPPOSITION to their personal agenda, and not as the people they represent. During open comments, after we all sat through an over hour long portion of the Eagle Rock representative answering questions, a particular board member didn’t have the courtesy enough to make eye contact w the people of Christian county standing up and voicing their concern during open comments. Maybe he was writing down comments, maybe he was doodling, I don’t know, but his head remained down ward facing while we spoke w passion and truth and conviction when it was our turn. The lack of eye contact felt passive aggressive and dismissive.
Speaking of disrespect, the bottom of my stomach dropped as Mr Board Chairman chastised Noah Readhead’s in depth, truthful, well researched video on Eagle Rock, calling it “distasteful” as Noah demonstrated a google mapped image of a house. What a way to paint Noah! Completely inaccurate and “misinformation” as Mr Board Chairman kept saying. Noah only showcased the address LISTED ON EAGLE ROCKS OWN BUSINESS PAGE. There is no crime here, no mal- intent. It was reporting, not doxing, as Mr Board Chairman insinuated.
I repeatedly felt scolded for having an opinion different from someone who claimed to be unbiased as a board member. I felt as though conversations were re-directed away from heated concerns, and back to safe wording like “this will be regulated, this will comply, nothing at all is concerning in this data center.”
It was a master class in gaslighting. The people of Christian county felt schooled by just a few board members, not supported.
(My admiration and thanks to most of the board who seemed genuinely concerned w our concerns! 🙏🏻👏🏻 THANK YOU)
Mr. Noah, if I may, ask that your next video be a deep dive into the Christian County Economic Development Committee, as they have offered to pay for this smoke and mirrors trip to Altoona. They appear to really, really, really want this data center approved. They were the first to know about the proposed data center itself. They are a powerful, silent influence in this decision, and report to no one but themselves.
My concern was validated at this meeting that there is a lot the public does not know. Which should make us dig our feet in the dirt even deeper with opposing the data center until there are concrete answers to our health concerns, environmental impacts, just who is benefiting from this and why!
We have to stand our ground before people that shall not be named steal our ground!
