A Bittersweet Announcement from Nickel Pickles Sweet Treats… But Please Know, This ISN’T Goodbye!
Life has a way of unfolding differently than we planned, but God’s plans are always far greater than our own.
After many conversations, tears, and prayers, we have made the difficult decision to offer our bakery building for sale and eventually close the brick-and-mortar chapter of Nickel Pickles Sweet Treats.
This is NOT goodbye, and Nickel Pickles is NOT going away. We were home bakers before opening our storefront, and once the building sells and we are ready, we plan to return to our roots. Although we are not accepting any new custom orders at the present time, our hope is that you will eventually be able to order your custom cakes and desserts from us again, just without a traditional storefront. We will announce when ordering becomes available again. However, if you have already been in touch with us and we have discussed an order, please know that the pause on new orders does NOT apply to you.
As many of you know, God gave me a second chance at life. He brought me from hospice care and planning a funeral to living again, and we do not take that second chance lightly.
And honestly, THAT is why we are closing.
God did not give me a second chance at life for our family to become so overwhelmed by a business that we no longer have the time or strength to focus on Him, our family, our health, and the purpose He has placed upon our hearts. We feel called to do more to encourage others, share the love of Christ, and point people toward our heavenly home and we want to be available to follow wherever God leads.
Nickel Pickles did NOT fail. In fact, God blessed it BEYOND anything we could have imagined. Truly. It became so successful that keeping up with it began consuming nearly every part of our lives. No blessing should EVER become so consuming that it takes our focus away from the One who gave it to us.
For seven years, you have trusted us with your birthdays, weddings, baby showers, graduations, holidays, and many of life’s most meaningful moments. You did not simply purchase cakes and desserts, you supported our family, encouraged our dream, and helped make Nickel Pickles what it is today.
If you currently have an order on our books, PLEASE DO NOT worry. Your order WILL STILL BE COMPLETED as promised. We are simply not accepting any additional custom orders at the present time.
If you have already messaged us concerning a cake, please be patient with us during this transition. We will respond as soon as we are able and sincerely appreciate your understanding.
We also expect to reopen the storefront with limited availability while the property is being offered for sale. We will share more information about dates, hours, and available items as those plans are finalized.
As this post explains, our decision is based on what we believe is best for our faith, family, health, and future. We know how fast news travels in our little town, so if you have any questions or concerns, please come directly to us. We are always happy to clarify and would much rather you hear the truth from our family.
This decision is incredibly DIFFICULT, but we know it is time to place our priorities back in their proper order and follow where God is leading. This chapter may be coming to an end but our story, and Nickel Pickles, is NOT over!
