Sometimes life throws unexpected curveballs, and yesterday our family was handed one that has completely turned our world upside down.

My sweet, tiny, precious grandma, my daddy’s mom, has been placed on hospice care, and we’ve been told she only has a couple of days left. I know she is ready to see my daddy, and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous. I know he’ll be there to greet her when she crosses that beautiful river. ❤️

Because of this, my momma, my sister, and I are currently waiting to board our flight to Illinois to be with her and the rest of our family during this incredibly difficult time.

As much as I hate to do it, Nickel Pickles Sweet Treats will be closed this week. I will be working as quickly as I can to personally reach out to everyone with custom cake orders scheduled during this time. Please be patient with me as I navigate something no family is ever truly prepared for.

This is a gentle reminder that life is so very precious. Love your people hard, forgive quickly, hug a little longer, and never take a single moment for granted, because tomorrow is never promised.

We would greatly appreciate your prayers for safe travels and, most importantly, for God’s comfort, peace, and grace to surround our family in the days ahead.

Thank you all for your understanding, your kindness, and for always supporting not just our little bakery, but the family behind it. We love and appreciate each of you, and we’ll see you soon. ❤️

This week, our storefront will be closed, with the exception of our scheduled custom cake orders. 🎂💕

But…

💕 The BIG announcement we’ve been hinting at is finally happening NEXT WEEK! 💕

We’ve been keeping this one under wraps for a while… Actually, for the entire 7 years we’ve been in business. And just like this little bakery itself, it has everything to do with my daddy. ❤️

There’s a story behind it, and one that’s incredibly special to our family. We are beyond excited to finally share it with all of you, and we truly think you’re going to love what’s coming to Nickel Pickles!

Who says wedding cake is only for weddings? 🤍 After 25 years of marriage, their amazing kiddos made sure they finally got the wedding cake they never had. To make the day even sweeter, they renewed their vows too.🥹
Such a special celebration to be a small part of. 🤍

And yes… This was a few weeks ago. One day I’ll catch up on posting… Maybe! 😂🙈

Most would say, “What a dang mess.” And honestly… you’re not wrong. Please don’t judge. As my sister said, “I cant believe you’re posting that.” IYKYK😂

BUT to me, this picture is a blessing.

I won’t lie… At first all I could see was the inconvenience.
I have a system, and I had 5 custom cakes due today… But due to a power outage affecting 44 people (the bakery being one of them), making them at the bakery just wasn’t happening.

So I loaded up the car and headed home, I had no other choice.

Aggravated doesn’t even begin to describe it. And yes… There may have been some mumbling under my breath. 😂

But then my perspective shifted.

Instead of focusing on everything that wasn’t working… I started noticing everything that still was.

I had electricity.
I stayed dry.
I had light to see.
I had a way to get the cakes done.

What felt like a disruption became a reminder.

A reminder that I am blessed beyond words and that there are so many people facing harder things than me.
At least I had power at home.

Sometimes God’s provision doesn’t look like convenience… sometimes it just looks like enough.

Enough to keep going.
Enough to finish what needed done.
Enough to remind me He never stopped providing.

And though I think we burned a whole tank of gas running back and forth grabbing things from the bakery… God still made a way.

The cakes got done.
People still had cake to celebrate with, even if I wasn’t please with the outcome.
And today still turned out okay. 🤍

Thank you to each and every one of you who showed grace and understanding today.
Going from 4 ovens and a huge kitchen… To one oven and only an island was definitely humbling, and was also a reminder of EXACTLY why we opened the bakery in the first place! 😂 Never again.

So let this be your reminder too…
There is always something positive to find, even in the most negative situations… You just have to be willing to look for it.

But for today… Thankful, grateful, and all 5 cakes still got done. 🙌🏼 Have a blessed weekend y’all!
