Chocolate Pi is an artisan bakery founded by Pastry Chef Kim Yelvington, and continues to be a family run business with Kim and her daughter Jade being the creative forces behind the baked goods. Our mission as a company is to provide a product made with only the finest ingredients, a product made lovingly from scratch- with recipes ranging from old family favorites passed down through the generat

Hi! Time to get spicy! Pumpkin spice praline cake will be back this week! A few of ya’ll have asked about carrot cake, so that’s coming also.

Our Thursday afternoon special, Cinnamon Raisin Scones will be coming out of the oven around 3:14 pm ish. They pair perfectly with my new favorite tea, Oatmeal Raisin Cookie.

Storytime: when I was very young and working in my first large scale bakery, there were a few baked goods that i told myself I did not want to make in the future. 1) The absolute top of the list was doughnuts. Why you ask? Remember, the Dunkin’ Donuts commercial? Well, I told myself, I am never getting up at 3:30 am to stand over a huge vat of hot oil and fry doughnuts every day! 2) Traditional Key lime pie, this pie is in my repressed memory of making too many, and never wanting to see another Key Lime pie again. Sorry. Lemon Meringue is sooo much better.
3) Carrot cake. As a young pastry cook, at a rather large famous restaurant, carrot cake was on my production list every day for years. The cinnamon in that particular carrot cake was ground in house, and treated a bit like 24k gold. People ask me if I make carrot cake, and I usually tell them, no, not often. Well, I am making an exception. Carrot cake is on the menu, my own version, not the unnamed famous one. I’ve developed my own recipes over the years. This one is for Megan. Thank you Megan! I’ll have it for you on Friday! I’ve been wanting to make a “Carrot cake Tiramisu with Chai Tea”, let me know in the comments if I should!
