The Perry County Health Department has notified the Village of Tamaroa that a mosquito collected at our sewage lagoon has tested positive for West Nile virus.
We are sharing this information to keep our residents informed and to encourage everyone to take a few extra precautions to protect themselves and their families. Please use insect repellent when spending time outdoors, eliminate standing water around your property, and keep doors and windows screened when possible.
This is also a good opportunity to remind everyone why the Village has been asking residents to keep their properties mowed, maintained, and free of excessive debris and overgrowth. Tall grass, weeds, brush, and areas where water can collect can provide mosquitoes with places to breed and thrive.
Over the past several weeks, the Village has been placing reminder notices on properties that need attention. Eight reminder signs were placed today alone. Our goal is not to hassle anyone—we simply want to keep our community clean, safe, and healthy for everyone.
📌 Please do not remove or discard a Village notice that has been placed on your property. Removing or discarding the notice is subject to a $30 fine, as provided by Village ordinance.
