A message from the owner:
It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the permanent closure of Hello, Cupcake at the end of this week; our last day baking for you will be Sunday, January 8. As sudden as this may seem, it’s a decision I’ve been forced to come to terms with after two long years of attempting to weather the storm of unpredictable circumstances, economic hardship, rising ingredient costs, and myriad other challenges Hello, Cupcake has faced.
For the last 15 years, our passion has been fueled by the opportunity to take part in life’s joyful moments, and it has been such a privilege to do so. We’ve helped our customers celebrate countless birthdays, new babies, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, promotions, and all of the beautiful little moments in between. We’ve taken part in some of Tacoma’s most iconic events, supported hundreds of local nonprofits, and become known as a must-stop dessert destination for locals and tourists alike. For all of this, we feel so much gratitude to our customers and to our community.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the team of incredibly dedicated, hard-working, and creative employees I’ve had the honor of working with over the years. Every cupcake we’ve made has been the result of a small team of mostly self-taught bakers and decorators mixing and hand-scooping batter, hand-piping scratch made buttercream, and meticulously adding garnishes, all with the utmost attention to detail and rigorous commitment to quality and presentation. We woke up as early as we needed to so that this process could happen for every customer every day, and while in the most stressful times we reminded ourselves “It’s just cupcakes!", we took it all very seriously.
We hope you’ll visit us this week to say goodbye and to celebrate with us one more time. We will be baking a special menu for you on Sunday, January 8, which will include some of your most-loved flavors. More details are to come regarding which flavors will be available, as well as an option to pre-order to ensure you don’t miss out.
