💜 SHY BAKES IS OUT OF OFFICE! 💜

I’m stepping away from the bakery (and my phone 😂) this weekend to spend some much-needed quality time with my husband as we celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary! 🥰💍

I’ll be taking a little break from messages, inquiries, and social media, but I’ll be back and answering everything Tuesday! 💜

🪦❤️ Chocolate Raspberry Coffin Cake

Going out in style… for a good cause. 🪦🖤

This gothic coffin cake was the second cake I donated for the Celestial Cat Rescue Fundraiser this past Saturday! 🐈‍⬛✨

Underneath all that dramatic black buttercream was a chocolate cake filled with fresh raspberry preserves — the perfect little contrast to all of the dark, gothic details. 🍫❤️

The ornate piping, gold accents, and coffin shape made this one SO much fun to create. I definitely got to lean into my love for all things dark and dramatic with this one. 🖤

But the best part? These cakes were made to help raise funds for Celestial Cat Rescue and the incredible work they do for cats in need. 🐾

Thank you to everyone who supported the fundraiser this past Saturday, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to contribute a little bit of my craft to such a wonderful cause. 🥹🖤

🖤🍪 Cookies & Cream Cake

A little spooky, a little sweet, and made for a great cause. 🖤🐈‍⬛

This cookies & cream cake was one of the cakes I donated for the Celestial Cat Rescue Fundraiser this past Saturday! 🐾

Made with a cookies & cream cake, a cookies & cream filling, and finished with all the spooky details — black and white stripes, red drip, chocolate tombstones, and a little graveyard scene on top. 🪦❤️

I had SO much fun creating this one, but getting to make something I love while helping support an organization doing such important work for animals makes it even more special. 🥹🖤

🕷️🕸️ A little friendly neighborhood sweetness!

This vanilla cake got a pretty serious superhero makeover for a very special birthday! ❤️💙

I had so much fun bringing this Spider-Man-inspired design to life with bold red and blue buttercream, hand-piped details, and those unmistakable eyes. 🕷️

I love when a cake doesn’t need a ton of extra elements to make a statement. Sometimes a few bold colors, some buttercream piping, and a little creativity are all it takes!

And of course… you can’t have a Spider-Man cake without a little web-slinging detail. 🕸️

Another custom cake out the Shy Bakes kitchen, and another reminder of why I love getting to create cakes for all kinds of celebrations. 💜

I had the sweetest opportunity to make this cake for a family reunion, and I had SO much fun with the design. 🥹

Can we also talk about what an incredible milestone for a 90th family reunion?! So thankful to be able to provide something sweet for them.💜

The request was a raspberry swirl cake- I had the fun opportunity to choose the design! I decided to dress it up with a little garden-inspired detail—soft greens, delicate piping, tiny flowers, and lots of texture. 🌸🌿

And because one dessert is never quite enough… this order also included matching cupcakes and cake pops to bring everything together! 🧁🍰 (I’m just not always the best to remember to photograph it all 😅)

I love getting orders where I can take a flavor and a simple occasion and turn it into something that feels completely personal to the celebration.

And honestly, the little flowers on this one might be my favorite part. 🥹💐

Sometimes the cakes I make just because I want to create something are some of my favorites. 💜

For my husband’s birthday, I decided to step outside of my usual cake box and make him something a little different…

A chocolate crepe cake layered with peanut butter buttercream. 🤎🥜

Thin, delicate chocolate crepes stacked layer after layer with that rich peanut butter buttercream in between. It was definitely a labor of love—but birthdays are the perfect excuse to make something a little extra. 🥹

And yes… I absolutely made him be the taste tester. 😂

I love that baking gives me a way to celebrate the people I love, experiment with new ideas, and create something that feels really personal.

This one may have been made for my husband, but I’m definitely filing it away in the “I need to make this again” category. ✨

Chocolate + peanut butter will forever be a dangerous combination around here. 🤎🥜

🌅 Sunset Market — A Night I Won’t Forget

A few weeks ago, Shy Bakes had the opportunity to be part of the Sunset Market, and while the night definitely didn’t go as planned… it’s one I’ll remember for a long time. 🤍

Set-up was absolutely wonderful. The weather was beautiful, everything was coming together, and I was so excited to see what the evening would bring.

Then 7:00 PM hit — the official start of the market — and the weather changed FAST. 🌩️

Within the first 10 minutes, we found ourselves right in the middle of a thunderstorm. The wind and rain came in so quickly that we were genuinely worried about losing everything. My tent was fighting for its life, and for a few minutes, it was all hands on deck. 😂

I am SO incredibly thankful for my family who was there with me that night. They jumped in without hesitation to help hold down the tent, protect what we could, and help me get through what could have been a complete disaster. ❤️

And even though the market itself was cut short, there was still a little bit of good that came from all those desserts I had prepared.

My mom took the remaining treats with her to work at the hospital, and the staff was able to enjoy lots of desserts during their lunch break. 🥰🍰

So while the Sunset Market may not have gone the way I imagined, I’m choosing to look at the good:

✨ A beautiful start
✨ Family who showed up when I needed them
✨ Customers who supported Shy Bakes before the storm
✨ And a whole lot of hospital staff who got to enjoy some sweet treats ❤️

Sometimes small businesses don’t get the picture-perfect market story. Sometimes it’s holding down your tent in a thunderstorm and trying not to watch your hard work blow away. 😂

But that’s part of the journey, too.
