We sold out in just over an hour today! 🥖

Even in the rain, you showed up, waited patiently, and filled our hearts right back up. When you got to us, you made sure we knew how much you missed us and that we’ll always be part of Carnes. You asked how we were doing, checked in on our family, and welcomed us back with so much love.

That’s community. That’s Carnes Crossroads.

After such a difficult month, today meant more to us than we can put into words. We needed this. Your kindness, support, and encouragement lifted us up, and our whole family appreciates every one of you so much.

This is what I woke up to at 3 a.m. today. 💔

After a month without AC and dealing with an unhelpful landlord, the cost and exhaustion of moving, and all the work of setting up a new bakery, we were finally ready for our comeback at Carnes. Then, in one especially cruel twist of fate, our fridge stopped cooling—with all those beautiful loaves tucked inside.

There was no saving the dough. All that work—gone in the blink of an eye. We had to cancel our comeback, and when I opened that fridge, I burst into tears. I was already completely depleted, and this felt like one more thing we just couldn’t catch a break from.

We’re not giving up, but this has been one of the hardest months of my life. This month has taught me that we are strong, even when we’re exhausted and don’t feel strong at all.

So many of you have told us, “It’s okay. We’ll be here when you’re ready.” You may not realize how much those words mean to us. Our community has been so good to our family and our little bakery. Sometimes I feel undeserving of that kindness, but I’m deeply grateful for every message, every bit of patience, and every reminder that you’ll still be there when we’re able to come back.

I have to remind myself: it’s a bad month, not a bad life. And if you’re having a hard time too, I’m sending you hugs—because I sure needed a hug from my Clio girl. 🤍🐾

I’m sorry, but we won’t be able to make today’s pop-up. We’re still working on getting the bakery back up and running and aren’t quite ready.

We hope to be back soon! Moving a bakery took much than expected!

We’re back at Carnes next Saturday, October 3, with lots of fall goodies—including our big, fluffy sourdough cinnamon rolls and Pumpkin Brown Butter Maple Cinnamon Rolls! Fall treats will be available in store only, so come see us!

We miss you all SO much! 🤍🍞

We’re busy moving, starting the process of getting settled, and having the proper electrical installed for our bread ovens at the new place. Fun fact: commercial bread ovens don’t run on normal household outlets—the things we do for sourdough! 😂⚡️

We’ll officially return to the Carnes Crossroads Farm Store on Saturday, October 3rd—and customer orders will be available for delivery that same day! 🎉

Going forward, instead of our Wednesday and Saturday pop-ups, we’ll be focusing on bigger Sourdough Saturdays to make sure we can continue serving our wonderful Carnes community. We’ll be bringing twice the amount of sourdough goods, including all the favorites you know and love—plus plenty of delicious fall goodies! 🍂🎃

Thank you for your patience, kindness, and continued support during this transition. We can’t wait to be back at the Farm Store and baking for you again!

We try to keep things professional around here, but we also believe in being transparent with you about the current insanity we’re dealing with… 🫠

At 10:20 tonight, it was 80° downstairs and 86° upstairs—while both thermostats claimed the house was “cooling.” It was only 80° outside.

This has been an incredibly frustrating and exhausting time for our family and our small business. Dough cannot ferment properly or predictably in an environment this hot, and turning on our commercial bread ovens would make the temperature even worse.

We’ve had multiple HVAC technicians out, stayed in a hotel, lost valuable baking days, and are now packing to move because this is no longer workable.

We hate being unable to bake for our community, and we miss baking more than we can put into words. The Sourdough Nook means so much more to us than simply running a business, and being forced to step away—even temporarily—has been incredibly hard.

This is why we’ve had to pause, but we’re working as quickly as possible to get moved, settled, and our bakery equipment properly connected so we can get back to doing what we love.

Thank you for being so patient and understanding through this brief—and hopefully much cooler—pause. We miss you all and cannot wait to be back! 🤍🍞
