Our tomatoes have mostly succumbed to the heat, our okra and peppers have been producing like crazy!

We just put a batch of peppers on the smoker to use in some of our spice blends.

While picking peppers, we caught a ripe fig out of the corner of our eye!

Let the fig season begin!

One of our favorite reminders that the garden isn't just ours. We have a large pot of dill that is growing along the path to our front door. Every time we walk by we see how much these caterpillars have grown, and when we harvest our dill we make sure to leave plenty behind. These little guys will turn into some beautiful swallowtail butterflies, and we love that they made our garden their home.

Growing food is about more than filling our kitchens, it's about creating a healthy ecosystem where pollinators and beneficial insects can thrive. A healthy ecosystem shows that what we have in place is working, and a healthy garden isn't about eliminating every insect. As butterflies, they'll help pollinate flowers and crops, while their presence is a sign that our garden is healthy enough to support a diverse range of beneficial wildlife. Birds, bees, butterflies, and even the tiny insects you rarely notice all play a role in keeping nature in balance.

We could have a picture-perfect dill plant without a single bite taken out of it, but we'd rather share a little of our harvest with nature. 🦋

We've been a little quiet lately, and for that we apologize!

Like many small businesses, Chez Nous is a labor of love that we balance alongside our full-time adult jobs. While we may not always be posting, we've certainly been keeping busy behind the scenes.

We've been working to secure new markets that are a good fit for both our schedule and the products we create, and we're excited about the opportunities ahead. At the same time, our gardens have been thriving! We've been planting and growing new varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers as we continue expanding the ingredients and inspiration behind our products.

The kitchen has been just as busy. We've been experimenting with new flavor combinations, refining some favorites, and developing a new line of jams and cheese accompaniments that we're looking forward to sharing with you soon.

Thank you for sticking with us during the quieter moments. Your support means the world to our family, and we're excited to show you what we've been working on.

Here are a few snapshots from the garden this past week. 🌱🍅🫑🌿🍓

Our gardens are working overtime! 🌱🍅🫑🍓🌶🫛

This harvest came just from the farm and it doesn't even include what we picked from our backyard this morning: kale, strawberries, peppers, peas, tomatoes, and basil!

Tonight we'll be running another batch of basil through the freeze dryer. So far, we have six different varieties of basil growing, and we've already started harvesting and preserving them.
Now we're eagerly waiting for our Thai basil to reach harvest size so we can add it to the lineup.

There's nothing quite like this time of year when the garden starts giving back all the hard work we've put into it! 💚

We picked this beautiful basil bouquet just before the rain rolled in. 🌿

After running out of our dried basil from last season, we’ve been eagerly awaiting its return and it’s finally here! Nothing compares to the aroma of fresh picked basil straight from the garden. 💚

The last of the onions are officially harvested! We spent the afternoon pulling them from the garden and getting them cleaned up. Over the weekend, these beauties will be chopped and loaded into the freeze dryer so we can preserve that fresh garden flavor for months to come.

There’s something satisfying about seeing months of work come together at harvest time, from tiny seedlings to pantry staples grown right here in our backyard. Thank you all for following along and supporting what we do at Chez Nous! 🧅🌱

We finally have our 3D Texture UV printer up and running! One of our first projects is creating product signs for our booth, which will help give everything a cleaner, more organized look. We’re excited to see all the new ways we can use it for Chez Nous moving forward.

Took a quick walk through the garden this evening to check on everything and do a little berry harvest of whatever the birds graciously decided to leave behind. 😂

The blueberries and strawberries are still coming in nicely (thankfully the strawberries are protected), but the dewberries were pretty much picked clean by our feathered friends.

All this rain has been amazing for the garden and everything is growing like crazy but it’s made getting the rest of the transplants in the ground and finishing our new beds a little more challenging. One day we’ll have enough time to get caught up!

We may be a little late posting, but we had such a wonderful day at the Artisan Walk on the Bowery in Winnsboro!

From the moment things kicked off, it was busy and we hit the ground running. We’re so grateful for everyone who stopped by our booth to shop, chat, and support our small business. Because of your support, we sold out of several items much earlier than expected!

It’s always encouraging to see both familiar faces and new customers discovering our products. Days like today remind us why we love being part of these local markets and communities.

Thank you again to everyone who came out and made today such a success. We’re already looking forward to the next one, and we’ll be busy restocking some of your favorites in the meantime!
