It’s happening! I’ve been sitting and mulling over this idea for MONTHS. And in the chaos that is life, I’m finally taking the leap!
In Pakistani/South Asian culture, ‘shaam ki chai’ (translated to evening tea) is an everyday ritual. It’s such a common occurrence that there’s no thought behind it. A cup of chai, a slice of pound cake, perhaps a samosa to go with or maybe some savory zeera (cumin) biscuits. It’s when time slows down, and you catch up with a friend or family about your day.
I fell into this routine when I was living in Karachi, post-graduation. It was something that not only happened at home, but also at work. In the newsroom, in our small magazine office, at my parents’s house - where there were always something sweet or savory to accompany a steaming hot cup of chai. It’s not as fussy as a high-tea invite (another common thing in Pakistan) but more casual and cozy.
Which is the vibe I’m aiming for with my new pop-up. You come to pick up your bakes, but hang out for a bit for complimentary chai and small nibbles. The menu is a labor of LOVE and I’m SO EXCITED to share it with everyone!
Since it’s the first one, I’m doing a very limited number of boxes. Once they’re sold out, I won’t be adding more. 😔
