North Mountain Vineyard and Winery is holding its 19th annual Oktober Wein Fest on October 7 from 11-5.

Our European-Alpine-style winery building is nestled in a meadow surrounded by the mountains, scenery that’s actually reminiscent of Bavaria.

Performers, including Bill Foster who is a local musician and Civil War balladier, will set the mood by playing live music all afternoon. There will even be a contest for the best traditional costume!

Come and enjoy North Mountain’s estate-grown wine, including the Oktoberfest, a delicious and seasonal blend of Traminette and Vidal Blanc. We will also be serving other Austrian varietals like Grüner Veltliner and Zweigelt.

Box Office Brewery will be on site, serving traditional German Märzen (medium to full-bodied lager) beer.

Hungry? Expect plenty of traditional food as well as Swover Creek Farms and Brewery’s farm-crafted grilled bratwurst. This tasty sausage is made from Country Rhodes Farm beef and pork and Swover Creek beer. Pair it with sauerkraut, potato salad, red cabbage, and funnel cake.

If chocolate is more your speed, Ree’s Treats will serve chocolates infused with North Mountain Chambourcin, along with cheesecake and other fine desserts.

Stroll the beautiful grounds and check out wares from vendors like Korolava Krafts, Crafty Momma, Long Ridge Cigar Shop, Krista’s Bavarian Gift Shop, or get some henna done by henna artist Grace.

The day’s highlight will be a chance to meet the Bavarian Haflinger horse team. This energetic and elegant breed was developed in Austria and northern Italy and is known for their distinct chestnut with flaxen mane and tail coloring. The horses love to pose, so take some photos with them or reserve a wagon ride for up to six people between 1 pm and 4 pm. Wagon rides are $25 per adult and $20 per child over 5 which includes a glass of wine for adults or soda/water for minors, served after the ride. (No food, beverages, or smoking will be permitted on the wagon rides. Please call to make your reservation, the 30 minute time slots fill up fast.
