What great fortune! Our Paris hotel is in the 2nd arrondissement, so in easy walking distance to the legendary . This magnificent pastisserie was founded in… 🥁…. 1730 by King Louis XV’s own pastry chef, Nicolas Stohrer. I’m not joking: it’s almost 300 years old and is by far the oldest patisserie in Paris. It’s also one of the absolute finest: for today’s breakfast, we indulged in croissants au beurre and a tourte aux saumon et epinards (a savory salmon & spinach quiche of sorts). Additionally, we sampled 3 scrumptious individual pastries: foret noir (my husband’s favorite- a boozy black forest torte), saint-honore (my favorite featuring vanilla pastry-cream filled choux puffs, caramelized choux tops and light as air diplomat cream, all atop of a flaky/salty puff pastry round. Finally, we tried Sloane’s favorite eclair au chocolat de Madagascar (a simply perfect dark chocolate eclair).

Stohrer is a must visit when in Paris. Bon appetit!
