This is certainly not a post we enjoy having to make 💔 but unfortunately due to hot water heater issues, we won't have any sourdough items in the self serve stand tomorrow. We WILL still have baked goods (cookies, scones, whoopie pies, brownies) just no sourdough anything. I can't properly put into words how much this upsets us to say - we are SO sorry.
We woke up at 8pm yesterday to start our sourdough prep only to find that we had NO hot water - ugh! Since we can't safely operate our home kitchen without hot water (both for sanitary reasons and functionality reasons), that put us out of commission for the night. Thankfully Mike was able to get our hot water heater back in service this morning (I am so thankful he is so handy!) but not with enough time to prepare any of our sourdough doughs. We will still be able to prepare baked goods tonight though! So the good news is that we will have more options for baked goods than we usually do on a Tuesday.
If you had an order for tomorrow, we have either already reached out to you or will soon.
Being consistent is one of my top priorities, so this is especially hard to have to announce - but we haven't had to cancel/severely alter a bake plan in almost a year, which I class as a win.
To say the least, May has been one of those "if it's not one thing, it's another" months for us. I'm not exaggerating when I say that we haven't been able to go 48 hours without something substantial going wrong - several major appliances suddenly not working, a couple fairly serious injuries on Mike's part (he's okay but was largely laid up for several days, but he's a trooper and didn't leave me hanging in the kitchen when it came to a busy Friday night bake 🩵), we've had more things go wrong in the last three weeks than I have in the almost three years of living in this home. Some of you who see our posts regularly may have even noticed that this isn't the first issue we've had with this particular hot water heater in the last two weeks. 🫠
So naturally, as has been par for the course this month, May couldn't slip by without ending with a bang.
Life happens, things go wrong - here's to hoping that June is kinder to us 🩵
