I was going to write this out yesterday but it has been pretty painful to imagine announcing this so quickly after we just began….Faux Pain will not be moving forward for this season at the Farmer’s Market. It breaks my heart having seen how excited everyone was, and the sheer outpouring of support you guys gave was incredible.

I won’t get too deeply into the why, but 99% of it is resourcing issues. Whether it be cost, distance, reliability, any of you who are gluten free know how hard it is to find actual gluten free flour, and sadly I’m seeing a lot of logistics issues that make me uncomfortable with serving to other Celiac folks. On top of this, the tariff situation (whether they’re on/off/on again) is causing a lot of market instability in buying from wholesalers. It’s not even just price, there are a lot of things not shipping on time or at all. It’s a mess and frankly it’s been a really bad time to start a business. That said, this isnt goodbye forever! Im hoping something will work out soon. I would love to find ways to keep our gf community connected!

I started this because I genuinely want celiac and GF folks in our area to have something good, safe, and convenient to eat. While I currently can’t provide the convenience, I can provide something good! If you DM me, I will send you my sourdough recipe free of cost, no strings attached. Additionally, if you have any baking question at alllll, DM me and I will help you out as I can. You want to convert grandma’s cookies intoo a gf recipe? I can probably help!

I’ve been losing sleep over this all week. Sadly I have to put a pin in Faux Pain for a few weeks while I try and figure things out. My second fridge went out with a lot of my ingredients in it (goodbye over 100 eggs, all my bakers yeast, milk, and over 30 lbs of croissant dough). Losing this also meant that I was unable to make anything ahead of time and I slept no hours on Friday night. For those of you who don’t know, I work a full time job that I love outside of this so everything I do is after work and late into the night. To make matters worse, I went to restock for the first time since tariffs hit and my bill has almost doubled. Most of my flours are grown in other countries, especially millet, which comes from China. I had accounted for some increases when the news was announced but nothing could have prepared me for that. All of the products I make are very, very delicate and require loads of testing to get it right. So changing my flour is a pretty huge deal 😭 all this said, I want this to work so badly. Every time you guys have been to my booth you’ve been SO enthusiastic, SO supportive, and just happy in general to be able to enjoy a treat at the farmers market. I’m going to be working hard for the next few weeks to fix my equipment, work on resources and recipes, and return to you without raising my prices (seriously we already pay ENOUGH just for existing as gluten free people). I will continue to post updates through the next three weeks but I sincerely apologize for my absence during that time as we get things in working order again. Reminder for Mother’s Day! Our giant Raspberry-Rose Macaron makes the perfect gift to accompany some flowers on Mom’s day! This dessert feeds one or two (if Mom wants to share): a large almond macaron shell lined with Lychee-Rose Buttercream, and in the center is an almond Jaconde cake, topped with raspberry jam and lychee pieces. Light, yet decadent! Pickup will be in the Dillon home parking lot. The signs say road is closed but that is just for through traffic, you can enter Broadway/2nd to get into the parking lot. Message me with your car color/model and I will bring your order to you.

Another special for this week: Sourdough Bagels! My brain is a fried egg sometimes so I made double the amount or pre-ferment I needed for sourdough loaves this week 🤦🏻‍♀️ thankfully it is not wasted because it became these DELICIOUS no-gluten bagels!! I will have 3 packs available on Saturday provided nothing goes horribly wrong since this is a new recipe I’m testing 😂
