I got some strudel yesterday and the young lady said 350° for 10 minutes. Oh so good. It’s the first time I have had it. I kept hearing about it in old films and it made me curious. I now understand why.
We're a week away from the WinterMarkt. To hopefully help you, each day this week we will curate a sample gift basket you can assemble from the vendors you find at ,
Since WinterMarkt has a European and definite German history and vibe, and the German embassy is coming, we will start with a gift for the fan of all things German or European in your life!
1. Definitely go and pick up one (or more) authentic German holidays items from Little Germany...I might consider a stein and maybe a smoker that fits the profession or style of the recipient.
2. Head over to Coburger Bistro and pick up some rum balls, gluhwein marmalade and Maultaschen. While you're there, consider getting a waffle or soup for yourself to sustain you on your journey around the market.
3. Head to the Beer/Gluhwein pavilion and grab your Herndon WinterMarkt collectible Gluhwein mug (s) and hat pin(s). Go to Lidl’s booth and paint a picture and name of recipient on one of their wooden starts, You can also head on over to the Herndon Lidl US store (gold sponsor) for a bottle of their Gluhwein to add to the basket after you leave the markt.
4. Get a pretzel from Nordic Knot and/or a great bread from Great Harvest Bread Co. (by now you're smelling all that bread loveliness, so don't forget your own sustenance). Head over to The Baekehaus for some additional German cookies or Little Austria for some strudel (knowing full well one of those will never make it to the gift).
5. On your way out, grab a good Bratwurst package from The Fermented Pig
Tie it up with a German or Austrian themed flags and ribbons, add your personalized wooden star ornament. Don't forget to keep perishables refrigerated until just about to give.
