Smell That Bread is a wholesale/retail bakery providing artisan bread and baked goods in Steamboat Springs. Smell That Bread specializes in rustic and artisan breads and pastries. Breads that conjure romantic, Old World images of a wood-fired ovens and dough mixed by hand. You can enjoy our bread daily at Cafe Diva, Laundry, Yampa Valley Kitchen, Mambos and many more businesses throughout town. 💥OPEN SATURDAY MORNING 9/5!! We are so thrilled to announce that we will officially be reopening tomorrow morning!!! It’s been a hell of a week, and that week felt like an eternity….we’d love to see your smiling faces, come see us soon!

⚠️💥REOPENING SATURDAY💥⚠️ We are thrilled to say that we will be reopening THIS Saturday!! The team Forward Restoration got us repaired, cleaned, sanitized and ready to reopen in less than a week! We are so grateful to have found them, they cared every bit as much as we did about getting us back open as quickly as possible. We spent all day today cleaning so we could get back in the kitchen tomorrow and start getting prepped back up to reopen. If you ever find yourself in this awful situation, call Forward Restoration, you won’t regret it! We are so excited to be back! Please come support us this weekend, we have a lot of catching up to do….

⚠️💥UPDATE💥⚠️ I have to say, after the last 36 hours we are feeling pretty optimistic! The power house of a team Forward Restoration has our space cleaned up, sanitized and drying out! While we did lose a ton of our packaging, our coffee setup, coffee beans and possibly one of our reach ins (TBD) we have fared pretty well! The water didn’t get to the kitchen or the office, which was our biggest win! We are so incredibly lucky that we caught it fairly quickly and had help arrive within the hour! We are heavily insured, so fingers crossed that the next part goes as smoothly. So many blessings amongst all of the chaos.

The ceiling is on course to be replaced on Monday, if all goes well we can REOPEN ON THURSDAY 9/3!!! We will keep you posted of any changes.

Thank you so much to this incredible community that showed up super tough to support us. We’ve had so many kind offers of help from local businesses and humans that it has been a bit overwhelming and also a BIG warm fuzzy when we needed it most. A very special and gigantic thank you to Aidan Rose and her wonderful father, Andy. They threw their wellies (and flip-flops) on and jumped in the truck the second we reached out. They spent hours in the muck with us, until the wee hours of the morning and didn’t leave until the busted pipe was located, the damage was mitigated and they knew we were ok. We are so lucky to have so much love surrounding us. Forever grateful we live in a community that is always willing to fight for us and with us!!

💥⚠️CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE! We woke up to this nightmare tonight….A pipe burst in the ceiling above our annex and flooded the front of the bakery. Unfortunately, we will need to be closed as we mitigate this giant mess and assess the full damage. We will keep you posted. We apologize for the inconvenience, we are absolutely gutted. Feeling so grateful we caught it so quickly and were able to turn the water off. We will be back as soon as possible!

NOW HIRING FOR FOH!!! Seeking friendly, hardworking and outgoing person to work the front counter at the bakery. This position involves boxing pastries, making toasts and sandwiches to order and working the register. As a bakery clerk you will be expected to keep the pastry and bread displays stocked and looking good, make coffee, rotate stock for prep, bus and clean tables, answer the phone, fold boxes, packaging inventory, setup and close out cash drawer and assist customers with any and all needs! No experience necessary, willing to train the right person. This is a great position for anyone looking to have their afternoons free. Typical schedule would run Thursday through Monday, 6:30AM-2:30PM. We are looking for full time and part time availability, training to start early August. Competitive pay with excellent tips! Pay is averaging between $20-$35 an hour with tips, depending on the season. Must love bread and pastries. Serious inquiries only, please. Email resume to: [email protected].
