After a lot of prayer and many quiet nudges, I’ve decided to press pause here for a while.

This summer reminded us that some seasons ask for something different.

For our family, that means creating more margin. More presence. More time for what matters most.

So I’m stepping away from creating new content for a while—but I’m not deleting this little corner of the internet.

The resources will stay. The memories will stay. And if you’ve found something here that has helped you, I hope you’ll keep coming back.

For those who want to stay connected, I’ll still be sharing occasional updates through The Joyful Blueprint and continuing to add resources and stories to the blog. 🤍

And if you’re in a season that feels full, uncertain, or just a little too loud…

Maybe you need permission to pause, too.

Sometimes the most faithful thing we can do isn’t figure out how to fit more in.

Sometimes it’s making room by letting something go.

What you didn’t see behind our 5-month Titanic build… 🚢
It all started when our 6-year-old saw the Titanic in a minifig shop and decided, “I want to build the Titanic.”

He started the first two sections on his own.

Then Dad had an idea: take it to the next level.

So this became more than just following the LEGO instructions.

Dad engineered a soundboard with Titanic sound effects — including the iceberg and Titanic song — and strategically added lights throughout the ship as they built.

And there is SO much happening inside this thing that you can’t see from the outside: levels of rooms, pools, details and more.

The dining room became their LEGO station for months.

They built in the early mornings, in the evenings after Dad got off work, on rainy days, between life events and summer trips…basically whenever they could squeeze in a few more pieces.

And then, five months later, the final piece went on.

Our 6-year-old stood there admiring what he and Dad had built, and he was SO proud. 🥹

Now this father-son masterpiece is enclosed and taking over our foyer…at least until our Christmas Vacation Advent house returns. 😂

I couldn’t leave without documenting a little more of the story behind it. Because sometimes the best part of the finished masterpiece is everything that happened along the way. ❤️

Our home has never told someone, “You can’t.”

Not Grandma when she wanted to help cook.
Not their uncle when he arrived in a wheelchair.
Not our boys as they raced in walkers and scooters.
Not me during postpartum recovery.
Not friends, neighbors, or guests who needed an accessible space.
Not even us when unexpected home setbacks turned life upside down.

We didn’t build this house because we expected every challenge that would come our way. We built it because we believed a home should keep saying yes—to every age, every ability, and every season of life.

That’s what Real-Life Home Design means to me.

Not perfect. Not trendy. Not staged for the internet.

Just a home that makes room for the people you love, welcomes the unexpected, and brings a little more joy when life feels uncertain.

We didn’t build an accessible home because we expected life to be hard. We built one because we knew life would change. And everyone deserves to feel welcome.

Apologies to our neighbors 😅

We heard hammering at 6:45 AM and thought someone had started construction early.

Turns out our 6-year-old decided his landscaping wagon needed a ramp to get over the boulder wall. 👷‍♂️🚧

No permit. No inspection. Definitely outside approved construction hours. 😂

Maybe growing up in an accessible home is rubbing off…

If something can’t get where it needs to go, build a ramp.

Wheelchairs.
Wagons.
It’s the same engineering mindset.

Should the contractor get a warning...or let him finish the project? 😂
