🍸 House of Bols was one of our favorite experiences in Amsterdam!
We started with admission to the House of Bols museum, where we learned about the history of their liqueurs and Dutch genever (the original Dutch gin) before heading into a hands-on cocktail workshop. During the class, we learned how to make several different riffs on martinis and other cocktails using Bols liqueurs and genever—and, of course, got to drink our creations. 🍸
Before the class, we explored the museum, and the highlight was an immersive sensory experience where you’re given a drink and taken into an audiovisual room that changes colors, sounds, and lighting to demonstrate how your perception of flavor can change. It was surprisingly cool and something we’ve never experienced before.
After the class, we enjoyed another cocktail at the bar, making this one of the best values we found in Amsterdam. Between the museum experience, cocktail class, and bar drink, the included drinks alone would have cost us about what we paid for admission.
💡 Hot tip: If you’re a fan of Bols Apple (looking at you, Holly 🍏), buy a bottle there and have it shipped home. It’s not available in the U.S., and we’re already planning to stock up next time we’re anywhere near Amsterdam.
Highly recommend adding this to your Amsterdam itinerary if you enjoy cocktails, spirits, or unique interactive experiences. 🍹🇳🇱
