Hellllo everyone! There’s so many new faces that have followed the past couple months, thank you for being here! I’m going to be updating my insta cake page here in the next few days!
Before May ends I have a special post/cake to share! May is Anencephaly Awareness month. This month is so near and dear to my heart because, my baby girl was diagnosed with it in January of 2025 and her first birthday would have May 16th.
We had the most beautiful celebration of life for her on the 16th and this was her cake!
What is Anencephaly?
* One in every one thousand pregnancy are effect by Anencephaly.
* Anencephaly is a Neural Tube Defect (NTD).
* 95% of infants born with Anencephaly are born into families with NO history of Neural Tube Defects.
* It occurs between the 20th & 28th day after conception.
* No one is to blame for having a baby with Anencephaly.. unfortunately science wins this battle.
* Anencephaly occurs when the “Head End” of the Neural Tube fails to close.
* The Neural Tube is the tissue of a fetus that becomes the brain, spinal cord & the bones around them.
* Anencephaly & Spina Bifida are the two most commonly diagnosed NTD’s.
In the past year we have met five families in our circle also affected with Anencephaly. It’s more common than we think. Continue to share the names of the babies that had to gain their wings too soon and by doing so you share awareness to their diagnosis. There’s not enough research on this topic. By bringing awareness we are one step closer to more research and studies to prevent the next family from experiencing this immense amount of pain.
Sailor Nicole, we love and miss you more and more everyday. A life doesn’t need to be long to be meaningful and my baby you mean so so much! 🩷💚🦋
