I specialize in what they call "novelty" cakes, not your traditional cakes. I work with fondant (which I make from scratch) because I like how it looks and how much easier it is (for me) to work with. The only cakes I'll do with a buttercream finish are what are called "smash" cakes, the small cakes usually bought for little kids to just dig into.
