Good morning! I hope all of you have recovered from Beryl. Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive since I’ve been here and I wanted to update you on a few things:
1. I am back to baking. Surprisingly, my sourdough starter survived through all of the chaos and she is active and bubbly.
2. I love baking, but teaching is my first love and my passion. With the 24-25 school year about to start (sooner for us teachers than students) I will most likely be going down to 1 or 2 pickup days per week. This will be reflected on the order dates calendar when you place orders.
3. This will be my first year teaching in Galveston. I will be teaching 5th grade math. The school I will be at has a high number (82%) of student that come from an economically disadvantaged home. That being said, I have started a student care closet where students can grab a snack, a grab and go breakfast or lunch if they didn’t have the means or the time to eat at home, hygiene products and toiletries. I am hoping that this will help my students feel more comfortable at school and take away some of the worries they may have about things that are out of their control. If anyone is interested in donating to my classroom, I have attached the Amazon wishlist. The items do not have to come from Amazon. I am more than happy to meet and pickup donations. There are also items on the list that are for the general classroom. I take pride in my room and strive to create a welcoming environment that students love to be in. This creates an excitement for learning.
I will post a video of the space I will be transforming in the comments and will provide updates along the way!
Thank you for all of your support!!
