From a farmers market table to seeing our story in Community Impact. 💛

Burén started with a simple idea: bringing a little piece of Puerto Rico to our community through the bread, flavors, and traditions we grew up with. 🇵🇷

Today, we’re proud to be the only Puerto Rican bakery in the Houston area and even prouder of the community that has grown around us.

Two years later, Burén has become more than we could have imagined because of every person who has walked through our doors, told a friend about us, came back the next weekend, and made Burén part of their own traditions.

Thank you, Community Impact, for sharing our story and capturing not only what we make, but why we make it.

We’re grateful for how far we’ve come and excited to keep growing together. 💛

Located in the heart of Old Town Spring, Burén Bakery was founded by Puerto Rican native Alexandra Astacio in June 2024 to celebrate Puerto Rican heritage with authentic baked goods and coffee imported straight from the island. 🇵🇷

After two years serving the Spring area, Astacio said the bakery is expanding with an additional location within the same shopping center. The new location will offer an indoor dining area where locals can continue making memories while enjoying authentic Puerto Rican pastries.

We can finally share this with you. 💛

For almost a year, we’ve been looking for the right place for what comes next for Burén.

Not just more space, but more room to gather, share a table, bring families together, make new friends, and keep building the community that has made this journey so special.

And we finally found it.

We’ve already started working behind the scenes, and little by little, this new space is beginning to take shape.

For now, just know… Burén’s second location is on the way. 💛

It was HOT out there today ☀️🔥… and still, our Buren family showed up.

You came, you supported us, you filled our little bakery, and once again reminded us why this community means so much to us.

We are officially SOLD OUT for the day.

Hay lugares donde se hace pan. Y hay lugares donde, sin darte cuenta, también se hacen historias. Nunca imaginé que una panadería pudiera enseñarme tanto. Que detrás de cada masa, de cada horno encendido y de cada madrugada, hubiera personas dejando una parte de sí en lo que hacen. Burén Bakery no nació solo para hacer pan. Nació de una pasión. De las ganas de seguir adelante. De la necesidad de crear algo con las manos y con el corazón. Con el tiempo, ese sueño encontró su lugar. Se convirtió en una forma de vivir, de recordar quiénes somos y de compartir nuestras raíces con cada persona que cruza la puerta.

Este documental no habla solo de una panadería; habla del esfuerzo que casi nadie ve. De empezar de nuevo lejos de casa. De extrañar el lugar donde crecimos y, aun así, encontrar la manera de llevarlo con nosotros todos los días.

Porque, a veces, el pan alimenta el cuerpo… pero las historias alimentan el alma.
