Gluten Free Bake Day!

Today’s baking was dedicated to fulfilling gluten free orders. We mixed and baked Sourdough Artisan loaves, Regular Artisan loaves and trays of Cinnamon Buns. ALL Gluten Free!

If you are gluten free, we got you! Check out our GF menu. We are proud of every item on it. They are delicious AND have amazing texture and crumb.

We had a beautiful day to walk the Seaside Park boardwalk in support of Oceans Harbor House.

Thank you to our walkers and thank you to everyone that buys our baked goods. We are beyond thrilled that we get to bake for your table so we can help local organizations like OHH.

Here’s the crumb reveal from my very first gluten free sourdough bread bake!

It definitely has the crispy crust I expect from a sourdough loaf. The rise is not as lofty as with a wheat loaf and the crumb is tighter and less open. But this is completely as expected when gluten is not present.

Although the taste and texture is really quite good, I already know what changes I’ll make for my next bake.

Is it good enough to keep? Am I on the right track? This is for my gluten free friends to decide!! Let’s see what the feedback will be from my special team of taste testers. 😋

Gluten Free SOURDOUGH Bread - say what??!!

I’ve been wanting to try Gluten Free sourdough bread for a long while and I finally did it!

I created the GF starter from scratch and although it was nice and bubbly in a few days (the air here in Spring Lake is truly magical!) it was about 2 weeks before I was ready to take the plunge and use it in a loaf.

Today’s the day!! GF Sourdough Bread bake day!!

Although not akaDTL’s usual fare of baking, there was plenty of love at this Indian Cooking Class!

We had a wonderful time cooking together and eating the fruits of our labor.
mcgill hope you had as much fun as I did and I can’t wait to see you recreate these dishes and more!
